Future Funding from TV Deal

If S.L. clubs go it alone when the new deal comes into force without promotion and relegation there will be no need for clubs to overspend chasing the S.L. dream.Budget to expected income with no more than 65% being paid out in wages.Give registerd players a small retainer £5000 per season and then pay out match money as before a fixed amount for results.Without the chase for promotion the leagues may level out more. There would still be play offs for the Champions as well as a League  winners shield. And of course as the SL. Grand Final is the climax of their season ask if we can have The Rugby League Challenge Cup to play for with S.L teams excluded.

The RFL own the rights for the challenge cup not SL euro so if they break away they have no rights for the challenge up that was my take on it i may be wrong

Who says that the lower league clubs are overspending. There are other broadcaster out there , if that is the way SL & Sky want to play it then we should explore these other possible avenues. These hard nosed yanks could not care less that the season has been decimated by covid.

I'd assume that this 'offer' is just for SL as I believe that SL, Championship/L1, CC and Internationals have been offered as separate packages to broadcasters this time round. Looking at the available, admittedly limited, information on the last deal, the figure said to have been offered in that article looks to be the same as the 'SL' part of the current deal was valued so could actually be seen as a good result for SL given the rumours that have circulated.

Whether anyone is interested in Champ/L1 rights remains to be seen as history has shown they're not in great demand.
