Yes and no about projecting,  if it does move to closed shop I would definitely want IMG projecting growth and pontential in them.

The schools work will be part of building that brand and identity to so its not either or.  The reduced attendance doesnt tell us what is the max capacity for now but hoping they can push for somewhere between around 1500.

none of that happens without steady growth in:

getting people back interested in the game and wanting to go to matches

That is why that is key for the next few years.. dont worry about anything else. The above happens through interacting with schools, clubs (both union and league) and general visibility in the locality.

Dont think too far into the future, just start the building process again and anything else that may come (IMG etc) will then come.. without doing the above IMG wont have any interest in Sheffield anyway as they are going to need to show some potential to be built on (which at the moment is difficult to judge for all the reasons we all know about).

Most new grounds have to have test events with capacities capped at certain amounts to comply with the regulations to get final sign off, I wonder if this is one such event, it’s a shame if so that they couldn’t have a bigger crowd but hopefully they still turn out.

By the comments that I have seen this is more about someone not doing what they were supposed to in time.. signing things.. test events have taken place with a couple of charity football matches.

It is what it is and Eagles just make the best of it. Hopefully its more about the seating and once the exact numbers allowed vs tickets sold is sorted they can put the none seated tickets back on sale.

Pretty naff on everyone´s part that this game has been targeted and they were either informed last minute or didnt get it up to scratch for what is effectively a relaunch.

I doubt it’s Sheffield Eagles’ fault tbf, they’ll have been told Monday was the big day when the stadium was ready and now this will have happened this week. They’ll be more devastated than anyone.

It is down to the Safety Advisory Group, who are the ones who license stadiums, nothing the Eagles or Scarborough can do to change their decision..

We are all devasted that Sheffield ###### Council, have yet again screwed us over.... there will still be 800 fans in the grounds, where as they could have just told us no go...

I think the other problem is that it is still a sort of building site, and there has only been one test event..  its a start and it can only get better...

I dont know one stadium opened recently thats not had teething problems....

here is the article from the local rag https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/sheffield-eagles-let-down-again-says-mark-aston-after-latest-stadium-setback-3701530?fbclid=IwAR1_OWTm9WO8VxOaP7VoOYJ73sXPXy8FHVq3uHgEVdfYGsItMbEm12LndrY

and how do you see this picture?

More a view of the reality of what has been built rather than the fantasy island idea some posters on here have that this is going to turn Sheffield into a financial force within the Championship. When this 1st phase is completed (at the end of June) the stadium will have a capacity of 1320.

Well if they’re getting four figure crowds towards the end of this season that’s a good forward step.

It's home.

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.

No one thinks that or has said that.. its a new home and gives eagles a platform to try and get themselves on a sound footing..

Don't understand why someone would have such a  downer on a club trying to build itself and on people being genuinely excited that a club like eagles finally get to play in their home city again after everything they have been through... oh yes its Rugby League so everyone has to be down on everything positive. Can't wait to sit in it with a pint and my son on Monday night... in his "watching rl" lifetime he's managed one season of eagles playing in Sheffield and that was under a glorified marquee!

It will be good to get everyone together and stop travelling around Yorkshire for home games 🙂

There does seem to a lot of Anti-Sheffield sentiment on here... but after 9 years on the road, we are home, and we havent folded but have gone from strength to strength including winning the inaugural 1895 cup....

The Future is bright the future is red and gold ...

All the best with it, did the same safety officers check out owlerton changing rooms and playing area too... with everything thats been aimed at eagles over last few years to overcome, i do really think sheffield will be a mighty force in next 5 years for sure.

Just saw this on Facebook.. looks good and you can see the potential that is there to grow if we need it (not at all getting ahead of ourselves, not building what we don't need)

Is this the same ground they were playing at a couple of seasons back?

Apart from the new bits, yes.

About half of it is in the same place as the DVS.

Yes in terms of that being a field and a marquee.. this now has a permanent stand that someone needs to make money from

Are they sloped banks behind the goals and down the open side, or flat. I can't quite tell from the photo.

There is behind one of the Goals at the top and on the side opposite the stand, behind the other goal  (near the school) is flat

It’s a modern day odsal in a natural bowl :kolobok_ph34r:

people can stand on the banks iirc which is good as we can hopefully plan the stadium build with “keep having people on the banks so need some proper stands”.. rather than guess when you need them... hopefully

Whether it's a bowl or not is debatable but it's definitely not natural.

The DVS was excavated and the spoil created Flame Hill.
