That rules Bradford out then.

Unless there's fine print.

This is a dishonest point. They aren't looking for a club to deliver 2k crowds in SL.

It's a bit like "If we make it too hard no one'll turn up!"

London have had plenty of chances so now its another teams chance.

Like being relegated at the last game of the 2019 season having won more games than any other relegated team before, even the much vaunted Leigh Centurions; granted the team has changed but we deserve a chance at redemption !

These two tweets sum up some valid concerns

Maybe but its an independent panel...

Of course we can always say their be influenced from outside... but then that's the way conspiracy theories work, especially when we don't get who we want..

If their was weighting we would be saying their deliberately setting those weights to suit a particular club...

We will always find something to shout "foul "about... again if it ain't someone we want...

Exactly, we've already had the assertion that the RFL favours Bradford so they can get some rent out of Odsal

The criteria cover the following categories:

a. Market Size and Commercial Potential

b. Future Performance and Growth Plans

c. Playing Performance

d. Facilities and ability to host live TV Broadcast and key partners

e. Finance and Sustainability

f. Ownership, Management and Governance

forgot g) whether El Stoned likes the cut of your jib  = weighting factor 90%

Nah.  Too much evidence based.  I like some of Matts stuff but he’s a bit off with this one.

It would be interesting to hear Mick Gledhills take on it though😁😁😁

The London team that finished bottom in 2019 is unrecognisable from the motley crew you have now. London were absolutely dominated in all departments by Fev at Ealing in March and have subsequently lost 5 or 6 players from that moderate team with no notable signings. As it stands, London are probably closer to a relegation battle in 2021 than to being a SL team. Virtually everything about them is trending in a negative direction, notably attendances. They're easy to rule out.

Of course there have to be minimum standards set. I assume the degree of flexibility the panel has will be exercised when they look at potential and the overall benefit for the game. Toulouse for example may have crowds that swell considerably once in SL. It would allow a local derby scenario with the Dragons. It would lift the profile of the game in the French media (hopefully). It may attract TV interest in France.

If that scrutiny was applied to each candidate (and surely it will), then the minimum requirements highlights the qualifiers and the real work of who would offer the game the most commences.

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

I think criticising the process or the subjective nature of this isn't warranted. By definition with the very tight timescales involved this will be an abbreviated version of what would otherwise be a lengthy and more considered approach, similar to the licensing one.

Don't cry when we get in ! Space on the cap, no idea who we have signed, you are jumping to conclusions. The dads armies assembled at Featherstone and York are something to behold.
