Or (at the risk of going off-topic) because "mergers" are still a delicate subject in the Wakefield district and may well rear their head once again in the near future. Lest we forget what "merger" really means in the UK RL context.

But I always see Wakefield fans obsessed with Sheffield-Huddersfield but never mention Gateshead-Hull, why?

I don't think they ever produced a badge for the Gateshull Thundersharks? 

Also, I don't think they pretended it was anything else but what it was, a take-over/asset strip. Huddersfield tried to keep up the pretence for a while that a merger had actually taken place.

The old Hudds badge is a cracker.  Perhaps it's just due to my age but I always loved Leeds' old badge as well.  To me it's so much more classy than the Rhino badge.

Bleugh I hate it when that logo is put inside a badge shape for no reason at all.

It was, of course, a rip off of Manchester United's logo.

That’s actually not bad for what it is.

 

They should use it as a basis for their actual crest which the current one is absolutely terrible.

I could get used to it, if it had something like "Huddersfield Rugby league" somewhere to identify the club more

Wouldn't say its just Wakefield fans obsessed.. I'm still pretty ###### off that the rfl decided that the best way to have expansion is to give a bunch of cash to the owner of an expansion club doing "ok" to hand over the keys to his club and screw over the fans to help prop up a "heartland" club that was failing.. brilliant well done the rfl and thanks for that Huddersfield..

They can also change the colours for the badge too which works well imo
