Club Captain Will Lovell and promising homegrown forward ‘Sid’ Adebiyi have both extended their stay with the Broncos putting pen to paper on new contracts having agreed terms with the club earlier this month.

Head Coach Danny Ward chose November to step up his recruitment drive following months of uncertainty and made sure the out of contract members of his 2020 squad were the first to be retained. Following a promising year in Super League for both players 2020 proved to be a huge disappointment but Ward was delighted to get the two key members of his squad signed up and ready for 2021.

Speaking on the signing of Captain Will Lovell the boss was quick to point out the importance of Lovell to the squad. Lovell, who has also played for neighbours London Skolars, is a popular figure around the club and someone Coach Danny Ward has been keen to sign as soon as it became possible. Ward said “It’s great news for the club that Will has extended his contract for 2021. Will is yet another academy product who has been at the club a long time now, an influential member of the squad and brings plenty of experience at the top level.”

Another of the 2020 squad that Danny Ward was keen to keep hold of was hard running forward Sadiq Adebiyi, a former Richmond amateur player who made his professional debut for the Broncos back in 2015, and has developed himself into a dependable and important member of the first team squad. Asked about ‘Sid’ extending his stay with the club Ward said “We’ve seen Sid develop all the way from our scholarship program into a Super League player. He transitioned well from prop to back row last season and came up with some fantastic performances at the top level. We are really looking forward to seeing that progression again next season. Sid will once again head up the energy and enthusiasm department for the team.”

With several more players having signed for the club in recent weeks we will update supporters throughout the coming days as well as a statement on the Super League application process from Club Chief Exec Jason Loubser and a catch up with Head Coach Danny Ward.
