R L Winger 452 Report post Posted November 25, 2020 Manly player Keith Titmuss passed all of his medical test conducted by the club just days before he sadly passed away following a pre-season training session on Monday. The Sea Eagles cancelled planned sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday and encouraged players and staff to take as much time off as needed to process the tragic news of the 20-year-old’s death. Titmuss collapsed after a routine session on Monday, he did not have any health issues that the club was aware of. The NRL will also wait for the coroner’s report to determine the cause of death before deciding its next steps, while the Sea Eagles have been assisting with the police. He was expected to make is first-grade debut in 2021 such was the progress he had been making and was one of several players who reportedly underwent a plethora of tests last week, including an electrocardiogram (ECG), to ensure they were fit and healthy enough for the rigours of pre-season training. Titmuss had complained of suffering from cramps following the session. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital before being moved to the Royal North Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. “It’s a tragic event that has saddened everyone,” Manly chief executive Stephen Humphreys said. “The family and the club have been overwhelmed with messages of condolence and support, and I know the family really appreciate that outpouring of support. “We’re hoping the medical review that’s happening will provide some answers to the questions the family and the club have. We’ll do our best in the coming days to pay tribute to Keith and then manage the challenge of returning to training and preparing the team for the year ahead.”
