Halifax Panthers

Recommended Posts

Whether you like the new brand identity or not, this is a key moment for Halifax and they need to continue pushing hard with getting positive news stories out there.

If they are going to attract more kids - they need to provide a matchday experience that actually targets them and continues this - not stopping half way through.

I hope it works for them, they have some very good people involved with the club.

If you’re going for a token rebrand and the people of Halifax want ‘Bombers’, why not go with that?

Bombing people to bits is a good idea for a logo?

Don't get me wrong, my father in law flew in Halifaxs, they bombed Peenumunde, he was shot down over Berlin. Proud of him.   But the reality is bombing can be emotive and can happen close to home as well.

In other news... Halifax are the latest club to realise the need to modernise themselves.   Halifax are a decent sized town.  Is there any reason for them not to aspire to the top table of Rugby League.

How about the Halifax Blueskins?

To show off how warm Halifax is at the height of summer?

Ha ha, yes. They have to sun-bathe for three weeks to go white.

That advert is 20 years old. You'd need to be over 30 to have a decent firsthand knowledge of the reference.

If you need to know why nobody should be asking us what's going to work for young people these days.

Not the worst , not the best , as others have put , hope they can milk it and gain from it , good club Fax , I know a few from there with the supporters group and volunteers , always enjoy my visits , even when we lose

You may just have hit on a brilliant idea there Grub, I would certainly pay premium money to watch someone trying to milk a real, live, Panther! It has that gladiatorial sense to it and would make a great half time attraction providing they cleared the remains afterwards. Somehow Stay safe, wear a mask might not be the best advice to the lucky participant.

The last feller who tried to do it, I seem to remember, was a gentleman called Claude Balls.

I mean, I know they couldn't exactly be Halifax Smurfs but I just can't associate Panthers with blue. If you know one thing about a panther it's that they're black.

I thought they were pink.

I'm 62, have followed Halifax since been taken to Thrum Hall by my Dad in the early 60's, and knowing some of the players then through his work.

I really dislike this modern branding, but the point is that it doesn't matter. I'll still go and see them whenever I can whatever they are called. The point is that marketing research apparently concludes that the club will be more successful in attracting younger generations with a new brand. I don't understand it but there we are. I wish the club the best of luck of with it, and for what it's worth I think they've done a reasonable job given the limited funding available.

I just wish that given the town's history they could have found something with a connection to Halifax - financial services, machine tools, textiles, brewing or confectionery. Or to reference the Duke of Wellington's regiment (maybe the old speedway team prevents them from doing that).

So far as I’m aware only myself @The Blues Ox and @Fax Machine on here are Fax fans, they’ll have their own view, I think it’s great, a bold move.

Those who don’t like it can continue calling them ‘Fax, most fans will I think but as a marketing ploy so far they’ve done very well with it

An excellent Kabaddi team

Apparently so.

I enjoyed it when Sky started showing the pro league a few years ago. Doesn't seem to have been on for a while.

But, yes, if it comes back, I now have a team.

Yeah don't mind it at all as long as it isn't just a name change and thats it. It needs to be built on and pushed and pushed. It makes no difference to me as Ive watched us at the bottom of the game and Ive watched us at the top of the game so a name change won't stop me going but we need to try something to attract new fans when there is so much competition out there for peoples money. Its not so simple as put a winning tram on the field, our crowds were already dropping when we finished 3rd in SL and really didn't improve when we were the best team in the Championship so something needs to be done.

I pretty much agree with all that, I’ve never really understood why the crowds fell so dramatically when we moved to the shay, to me it was obvious, two teams playing in dilapidated stadia at opposite ends of the town, Thrum Hall just wouldn’t have cut it for soccer because of the slope so down to the shay it was, but many wouldn’t follow

Liked the name HALIFAX BOMBERS but it was rejected as not being politically correct which is total b------s at cricket we have my team KENT SPITFIRES

Whats the difference.

Spitfires fought in battles against other air forces,

Bombers dropped bombs on civilians.

The Dambuster raids are a modern day war crime in that they attacked a water supply
