Chris Taylor
Whether you like the new brand identity or not, this is a key moment for Halifax and they need to continue pushing hard with getting positive news stories out there. If they are going to attract more kids - they need to provide a matchday experience that actually targets them and continues this - not stopping half way through. I hope it works for them, they have some very good people involved with the club. 2008 RFL Wakefield & District Young Volunteer of the Year
Rupert Prince
Amazing; news breaks 19 hours ago and we are already on page 6. So looks like the announcement worked well. Obviously lots of sneering from the backwoodsmen. But well done Halifax.

Bombing people to bits is a good idea for a logo? Don't get me wrong, my father in law flew in Halifaxs, they bombed Peenumunde, he was shot down over Berlin. Proud of him. But the reality is bombing can be emotive and can happen close to home as well. In other news... Halifax are the latest club to realise the need to modernise themselves. Halifax are a decent sized town. Is there any reason for them not to aspire to the top table of Rugby League.

It has that gladiatorial sense to it and would make a great half time attraction providing they cleared the remains afterwards. Tommygilf
Panthers is fine. As would, Blues, Blue sox etc. have been. Its all about the follow through. The recent moves from Super League HQ seem to suggest that its not something clubs will be able to get away with half arsing

Oscillator
I'm 62, have followed Halifax since been taken to Thrum Hall by my Dad in the early 60's, and knowing some of the players then through his work. I really dislike this modern branding, but the point is that it doesn't matter. I'll still go and see them whenever I can whatever they are called. The point is that marketing research apparently concludes that the club will be more successful in attracting younger generations with a new brand. I don't understand it but there we are. I wish the club the best of luck of with it, and for what it's worth I think they've done a reasonable job given the limited funding available. I just wish that given the town's history they could have found something with a connection to Halifax - financial services, machine tools, textiles, brewing or confectionery. Or to reference the Duke of Wellington's regiment (maybe the old speedway team prevents them from doing that).
Phil
So far as I’m aware only myself @The Blues Ox and @Fax Machine on here are Fax fans, they’ll have their own view, I think it’s great, a bold move. Those who don’t like it can continue calling them ‘Fax, most fans will I think but as a marketing ploy so far they’ve done very well with it "Freedom without socialism is privilege and injustice, socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality" - Mikhail Bakunin

It needs to be built on and pushed and pushed. It makes no difference to me as Ive watched us at the bottom of the game and Ive watched us at the top of the game so a name change won't stop me going but we need to try something to attract new fans when there is so much competition out there for peoples money. Its not so simple as put a winning tram on the field, our crowds were already dropping when we finished 3rd in SL and really didn't improve when we were the best team in the Championship so something needs to be done. I pretty much agree with all that, I’ve never really understood why the crowds fell so dramatically when we moved to the shay, to me it was obvious, two teams playing in dilapidated stadia at opposite ends of the town, Thrum Hall just wouldn’t have cut it for soccer because of the slope so down to the shay it was, but many wouldn’t follow "Freedom without socialism is privilege and injustice, socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality" - Mikhail Bakunin
