A huge leap forward in many ways

  • The appearance is ultra modern when compared with perimeter boards
  • The potential advertising revenue on LED boards is multiple times that of static boards
  • TV games at Belle Vue will look modern and will help sell the image of a modern club in a prestigious competition
  • Pre match displays & shows will incorporate the LED boards thus helping to create a superb atmosphere alongside lasers, fireworks, smoke, flames & sound system

Each new development pushes us onward, the stadium is slowly morphing from an 1870s structure into a modern day tech advanced venue right in front of our eyes
Brilliant to see and all thanks to our superb new owners Matt Ellis and family

It's good to see but I think this is somewhat overselling the impact these boards will have.

You have to appreciate where we've come from to get to this point.

For Trinity fans it will create a real buzz.

There is no doubt LED boards offer commercial advantages, but I am no expert and do not know the level of financial gains.

However Trinity will get full benefit as they own the ground. Other clubs also have boards and also get points for this. However do they get full financial benefits or do their landlords also get a cut.

That's all true but the claim was they will help to generate a superb atmosphere at the ground. I think that aspect is dubious at best.

Probably means they've been hooked up wrong.

I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.

Well if you are watching the boards, the match itself can't be up to much. Surely their intended purpose is for funding.

But that was the point, you get IMG points for them, but if you are a tennant it doesn't mean you get the funding.

They will running outside both halves and half time plus as a televised game you can hardly miss the adverts on the led boards just watch a football game

To be honest I think if anything the impact of LED boards on user experience is undersold. It's not about the advertising revenue (which is good), it's about how you can use them within the game to jazz up the whole experience. Pre-match displays, countdowns, celebrating tries and goals, highlighting a particular player, using them in half-time entertainment etc. etc. On night games in particular it really does add something.

At Hull KR at half-time watching "Race the Train" where a supporter is sprinting to try and beat a moving train on the sideline LEDs always cracks me right up, God knows what Hull Trains pay for it probably peanuts but it's a great "sponsorship activation" in the old marketing lingo.

Latest drone footage.

Renewal of terracing in front of North Stand including wrap around to East and West. Base in front of Hospitality Block to support new terraced area. LED Boards installed.  Just need the MDC to pass that pending PP for the Western Terrace upgrade.

It's our ground though

Well , not strictly speaking it isn't . You still have around 10 years of the £3.1 M council loan to buy the ground (double it's estimated value at the time), to pay back .

You mean it's our ground with a mortgage on it 🙂

True, but that will not be an issue for Matt Ellis. I would bet he has already in the process of spending far more than that with the present and future ground upgrades. He will buy the ground when it suits him to do so

Not disputing that , and there is no way he should be buying the ground at the monment with a favourable interest rate of 2.5% , it wouldn't make sense financially to do so . I think he has already touched upon the point of not buying the ground outright yet when he first took over the club .

I was replying to the post that you own your own ground , which strictly speaking you don't .

On that basis though virtually nobody owns their own homes then, for example.

It's the company that owns Wakefield Trinity on the title deeds.

Agree , but if someone can't pay their mortgage then it's ultimately the bank that owns the house and takes re-possession of it . It's the same with BV , if they fail to keep up their repayments then they would have to leave BV .

I agree that as things stand there is no chance of this happening , but circumstances change as we know all too well .

I've heard that we still owe arround £4 million to the council, and Matt Ellis had originally agreed to repay it at a rate of £1 million per year over the next four years. However, due to changes in personnel at the council, the gentleman's agreement we had has been scrapped and they want the money back asap and intend to start charging interest on the loan if we don't pay it off. As a result, I think Matt has decided to settle the entire debt in one go. Only going off the rumour I've heard from somebody who is usually pretty spot on.
