This week the TO Elite 1 side have joined forces with the Stade Touloussain group on the training pitch at Ernest Wallon. Seb Raguin as coach of the Olympique reserve side working along with ST boss of formation Michel Marfaing. Quite extraordinary to see this happening at another level.

Not the réserve team but the formation center

We all need to get behind French RL. Toulouse Olympique have been a RL Club since 1937, this Club ground out 3 full consecutive seasons testing the waters in the British Championship 2009, 2010 & 2011 previously, came back to League 1 for the 2016 season and got promoted back into the Championship where they are now entering their 5th season (8th overall in Championship (9th in British System)) All this despite the significantly increased standard operating costs for an overseas team playing in the British System, negativity from all sides around Brexit and still here despite Covid19 pandemic. They run their own reserves in the French Elite System. This Club is a keen and committed Rugby League Club. All this also pretty much applies to Catalans Dragons.

They average around 3k , and over 5k twice and over 6k once for big matchs in championship . Since they move To ernest wallon stadium they allready average one more k in the beginning of last season. In SL they will esealy average 6k the first season.

They are a blueprint for success along with York and Newcastle

Agree with all of that, other than what’s Brexit got to do with it? They can still play in our league the same as they could before?

We've heard ppl on here dream up all kinds of impossible to solve problems brexit would cause, not least visa issues.

Sports teams will be able to get visas no bother, that’s the least of TO’s issues. I’d love to see them in SL.

Did they?

Or were they just possibilities in the murky inexpicable morass called brexit?

But you're spot on about Toulouse a true dyed in the wool, bona fide, RL club, straight from the Entre-Deux-Mers  Corridor.

If/when Toulouse eventually make it to super league will they run an academy side playing against English sides like Catalan did ?

That would seem costly, the reserves in Elite One model might be preferable.

I doubt it with the costs! They'll probably carry on with the elite-1 route like the catalans

Joint venture with the dragons perhaps? Split the cost.

Before the dragons quit the league they were becoming more than competitive with their English counterparts.

It was a massive shame they pulled their team out of the Academy. Costs will have been hideous though.....

No doubt about the costs being high but it was great to see the French youngsters not only competing with but actually beating some big English teams.

Could has also been a big incentive used to attract some top schoolboy union talent too. Travelling to England on regular basis etc.

Hearing that Patty Vaivai is trialing with Agen XV despite recently signing 2yr deal with TO

It's now been confirmed that Patty Vaivai has left Toulouse
https://www.to13.com/a-la-une/le-to-xiii-et-patty-vaivai-se-separent/

Interesting development, the rash of high-profile new forward signings (Casty, Garbutt, Peyroux, Paulo, Dixon) has meant that some of the existing players would have their positions under threat, but I would have thought Vaivai would have still been a contender for a place in the 17. Still, maybe he was offered more to play RU, or he just fancied a crack at something different.

Light years between what the Dragons put up with at Aime Giral home of USAP in 2006. Selling clubs shirts et al from portable tables behind the stands in the open like a market day. Remarkable what is evolving here. Stade Toulousain probably the biggest rugby club in Europe on and off field. Got class.
