Call it two decades. Teams he built in the de facto football manager role at Headingley started being really competitive in 1998 about 16 months after he took over and the era ended 18 trophies later with the 2017 Grand Final. 

And arguably what he did as coach and founder at Sheffield was even more remarkable. 

If he, or anyone, ever writes it the book of Hetherington will be an amazing story.
