Like who ?

Jarryd Hayne was the rumour.

However, unless Hayne can tunnel his way out of prison and fly out of Australia in disguise, his signing by Daft Dereck is starting to look more and more unlikely by the day.

Hayne agreed to come for the play offs a few years ago , anything this year was clickbait

Back on topic. The only reason Nathan Peats signed for Leigh was no NRL club was interested in him and neither was no other Super League club.

Oh for Peats' sake!!

In fairness that's the level of player Leigh are likely to get.

Numerous fans have boldly repeated Beaumont's mantra that no players have contracts beyond 2021, the club itself is clearly not sure of its Super League spot following this season, and cap space must be tight even though they have been given less funding to do it because they have recruited for championship promotion. That is going to have an impact on how attractive (or in this case not) a club is to potential players, and that's before you get onto how the Super League clubs can't offer the standard "come to England, travel Europe" pitch they often have in the past.

Unless Leigh have an impressive start to the season and defy expectations that they'll look like a second division team in the top flight, this is the sort of signing they'll likely be restricted to mainly because of their own scenario.

The first 6 fixtures that have Wigan twice, Wire and Saints are probably 4 reasons that they won't defy those expectations Tommy, the other 2 are Cas away and Salford.

Baptism of fire there, every one of those clubs have played in at least one final (and most at least 2) in the past 4 seasons.

Best hope is to do what London did and try to be in touch with the bottom couple of teams, likely to be the same two as for London, until as late in the season as possible.

Jeez Leigh really are scraping the barrel now..............I was expecting a lot more from them in terms of signings, on the back of the big statements after being let in. Going to be a long season for them

given theyve a central funding sum far less than every other club not pushing the boat out too far sounds the prudent thing to do, maybe Mr Beaumont is learning.

Hiding behind the couch mentioning this Tommy, but to keep in touch as London did someone will need to be as benevolent as Saints were to London - twice.

A local derby against a Wigan team possibly without French,Manfredi,Gildart,Hastings & Field you’ve got to fancy your chances surely.

I do and have wagered accordingly - 4/1 straight win and 12/1 11-15 point win. The odds for Leigh not being relegated are poor - why? We will finish well, despite the straight jacket imposed - not the £1m funding or late inclusion btw.

Isn't thet the same with all the aussie imports,  if they was still that good they would still be playing nrl.

Mate your missing the point. He signed less than a week before the start of the Super League season because Leigh's offer was the only offer he had to play in Super League

So because inglis signed six months ago he's a good signing even though no other club wanted him.

Given the amount of midweek games that's not entirely impossible. Leeds literally played our u19s in one game last year before the cup final.

To be fair, playing them first up may not be a bad idea before they get into their stride.

Haven't all other SL teams filled their quota spots ? Although I do get where you're coming from.

He was released by by the Titans at the end of NRL season so there was plenty of time for Super League clubs to sign him if they rated him and clearly they didn't. No Super League club wanted until Leigh made him an offfer

Aussie journos are asking why he wasnt signed to NRL, I see.

The other factor which could come into play is his demands, maybe they have reduced or maybe the club has more money to spend or maybe the pickings are now so slim its better to have quality than not
