oh well thats fine then as long as it goes away and people forget about it... dont worry about the fact he will no doubt do it again to someone else (as he obviously doesnt learn a lesson) or that others dont get given a deterrent.. hey ho its all fine is a nothing incident!

We'll have to agree to disagree obviously moral compasses are set differently.

moral compasses are set differently.

I think that's unfair. Don't think that's quite how it is.

I think its exactly what it comes down to, its morally whether you think people who dont learn from their mistakes should be more heavily punished and how bad something has to be (an attack on someone's genitals is pretty sh*thouse in my book) before you deal with it heavily.. those are moral decisions. If someone doesnt think it is that bad or can excuse it the way it is excused (nothing really in it) then thats a different moral compass to mine.

My moral compass is set pretty much in line with the rl disciplinary panel.

If you're still grinding rocks over this, I suggest taking it up with them

That doesnt make it correct...

dont worry I have, as someone who has had experience of issues in this area I have highlighted what can happen to them and why they should take it seriously before something quite serious occurs. (nice choice of phrase.. "grinding rocks" BTW)

As I said, if you think it's wrong, take it up with the RFL.

I think they've called it about right.

As I say, I have, I dont just spout on a forum.

I am also discussing this on a forum with people such as yourself, both can be done. As I said, agree to disagree and i think you would if you had any of the issues that this can cause, they are not fun.

Do you think I've haven't had my scrotum squeezed, twisted punched or flicked or a rugby field? I played a long time - in a very different era - I'll acknowledge that.

It is an abhorrent offence. However we've seen abhorrent tackles of a different, but very dangerous, not punished at all so 10 games isn't inconsiderable. There was a very dangerous cannonball tackle last week in Super League that wasn't even worth a mention.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

1982.... the week after losing my front teeth courtesy of an opponent back rower's boot at Halifax Vandals, I ended up in Barnsley A&E having my gonads checked out after what felt like having them ripped off at the time in a game v I Ionians. No lasting damag, but yes, I have experienced issues such an offence can cause.

Some karma..... my second row parter levelled the b'stard in the next ruck....

but thats my point you havent experienced the lasting damage... its the point you are continually missing.. It is great there was no lasting damage but when there is lasting damage it is potentially lifelong and not pleasant..

we're going round in circles.. you played in a different era and have a different moral compass.. lets let the thread move on.

I haven't had a broken neck from a spear tackle either. I have and still suffer from a bad leg break caused by foul play at ponty.....

As repeated.... my moral compass is in line with the RFL disciplinary. Yours isn't. I'll not lose any sleep over that

I don't think moral compass comes into it personally I would have liked him to get double  first offence 8 matches £250 2nd offence 16 matches £500  but the bottom line is he's been found guilty  and that is all that really matters

While the length of ban could be increased there's a limit on size of fine depending on being a SL, Championship or L1 player.

grabbing someone by the nuts can cause some really quite major issues, not just to the testicles themselves but to your health in general.. for the younger gentleman it could also have lasting effects on your ability to have kids..

Yes this is extreme but the point is that unlike a normal tackle where there are risks that is part of the game.. grabbing someone's balls is not part of the game, never has been, and is a down right sh*tty thing to do.

It should always come with a heavy ban in the same way as any offence that is obviously deliberate and meant to cause pain but with potentially very serious consequence is dealt with.

8 matches for the first offence doesnt seem to have put him off, 10 matches is hardly going to make a difference.. If people dont learn from severe punishment then perhaps we are better off without them in the sport. After all it is a headline we really could have done without on the BBC etc

A cheap shot like this happened to a player at Ovenden a few seasons ago, surgical intervention was required, so it’s not just a bit of discomfort and play on, it’s really serious

I’ve only just read the panel’s judgement. I know you’re saying he’s been found guilty, but the entire 3hour  deliberation can be boiled down to:

Bussey - he did it.
Flanagan - no I didnt

Panel - is there any video either way - no? Damnit, we’ll have to flip a coin.
Right - we’ve decided to believe the bloke with a history of biting over the bloke with a history of male genitals grabbing.
And that’s it. One persons word against the other.

Have you read it? Search for Flanagan, 21/3/21

John Kear agrees with everyone that the video is inconclusive but that he believes Flanagan. The panel make pains to stress that they have no idea of any previous history when they are deliberating. They basically say Bussey was the more believable of the two so that’s the decision they went with, despite it being one mans word vs another.
