It’s no coincidence that the rising standard of play in the digicel cup has seen a better crop of new players enter into the hunters squad debut in the 2021 Queensland cup.

I’d be very surprised if a record number of hunters players aren’t picked up by NRL clubs for next year.

The QRL has recently started posting Q Cup highlights on their YouTube channel.

The Hunters` win over the Jets is on the QRL website, but not yet on the QRL YouTube channel. PNG fans usually beat them to it for their channels.

Some are streamed on Facebook too. One of the boys in Nicaragua was really excited to watch one of the games today.

Thanks. Shame about the music mind you.

Another good win for the hunters early today over the Sunshine Coast falcons 32-12

I was at the game. Great to see a large crowd (for QRL games) and the passion of the hunters supporters. Made for a great atmosphere.

Impressive performance against the ‘baby storm’ that featured Cooper Johns. Hunters have a limited squad so need to avoid injuries if they are to maintain this early season form.

Good luck to them.

Any standout players for the hunters mate? Can you see any of them attracting attention from NRL?

I wouldn’t say there were any stand out players. They looked to be a well rounded team with great team spirit. They are limited to a 24 man squad because of them having relocated and two players left the game with injuries.

Going to their Anzac Day game at Burleigh which is always a test, even though the bears havent started the season well.

Off topic, it`s Bears v Capras in the BHP premiership before the men`s game. CQ will do well to get anywhere near close to Burleigh`s women, who are looking unstoppable this year.

If your average Papuan had the same build as your average Fijian then the kumuls would be absolute world beaters.

Lack of size especially in the modern game is seriously holding the kumuls back on the international stage.

Don't forget they beat great britain last time out.

PNG RL has definitely gone up a level or 2 in the past 12-18 months with the domestic digicel cup competition and the hunters improving.

Things will only get even more better for the kumuls with talks of the hunters entering an U20’s side into the Queensland cup.

It`s already a done deal mate, it was just postponed because of the pandemic.

It`s very hard to see how PNG will not become a steady stream of quality League talent in the next few years, there should be serious Rugby League numbers coming out of that country.

Most definitely. There’s actually some exciting raw talent amongst the current hunters crop of players.
