Name Change

Recommended Posts

I think that it would be a very move to change the name of our game from 'Rugby League', 'Superleague' 'NRL' etc to....

'The Greatest Game'.

Rugby Yawnion arrogantly changed their name to just Rugby, dropping 'Union' ignoring Rugby League altogether.

It's time we gained the initiative, especially if changes are afoot in Superleague, with possible NRL and RL involvement, this could be an opportunity to unite under the banner of:

'The Greatest Game'.

'The Invisble Man is at the door'.     'Tell him I can't see him'.      The late, great Tommy Cooper

Welcome back, familiar old subject - it turns up on here more often than Stacey Jones' farewell appearances.

I think we have missed a trick by not renaming our sport to 'Coronavirus Symptoms Rugby'.  We would be right at the top of the Google search numbers.

It's stuck in the mud thinking like yours that are holding the game back

If we did go for Jizball we could have 'Jizz of the week' or a 'length of the field Jizz'

Jizball it is. We do need to clarify something though, is it called Jizball because it is a ball sport that is so good it makes you want to mess up the front of your Calvins or is it called this because we are replacing the antiquated rugby ball with an actual ball of jizz?

Ps. Length of the field jizz? Quite an achievement! That would be worth a bottle of champagne!

Go back to our roots and just call it “Northern” 🙄

Back in the day the RFL decided against a trade mark as it would cost too much. RU stepped in.

Little Mo wanted to call us ' League ' and nothing more than that .Maybe yet another wasted opportunity......

Seeing some of the crazy suggestions here, I'm going to re-introduce Alphamax football.

This idea grew out of a comment by another poster (ages ago) who said that RL was like Betamax compared to VHS, a much higher quality format which didn't capture the market to the extent that it should, simply because the others got in first.

Beta, sounds so beta... so let's go for Alphamax and reclaim the high ground, we vacated years ago.

The only hope for anything to work along these lines is for Super League and the NRL to combine and be called the NRL. Then you would perhaps get into the habit of calling full time professional club RL worldwide the NRL - like the NBA or NHL. Other than that, it has no merit.

NRL (Europe).
Super League is a netball competition now amongst other sports.

Wasn’t the original idea of Super League that everything rugby league would be Super League. We had SL Europe, SL Australia, SL test series
