No Jason Baitieri. Interesting. Is that for political reasons?

Last time France played a game Baiteri was captain. Fages was the captain I think in the last WC.

Yes with the previous President.

The only certainties in the final 17 are:

Mark Kheirallah

Fouad Yaha

Theo Fages

Benjamin Garcia

Benjamin Jullien,

Remi Casty, Alrix da Costa, Julien Bousquet

Interchange: Romain Navarette

I would put Arthur Mourgue in the halves with Theo.

Anybody care to fill in the blanks?

The absence of hard working Jason Baitieri is a blow to France’s chances of success.

Can anybody explain it?

I think he had a fall-out with previous senior figures in FFR13, possibly while on tour 'down under' and retired forthwith from international competition.

He is a loss; 'hard working' is an excellent description.  In other words, the sort of player that every team needs, even if they don't always get noticed very much.  In Baitieri's case, his bilingualism could be handy to, I would have thought.

This is especially sad and  unnecessary because Jason’s father Tas has worked tirelessly to help build and sustain rugby league in France.

Pellisier on the bench. Gigot full back. Jussaume and laguerre centres. Goudemand second row. Seguier bench. Kheirellah wing.

They have their work cut out with Gigot.  His heart doesn’t seem to be in the defensive side of his game for Avignon.  Maybe this call up will stimulate him to up his level.

It looks a bit too easy for him and he's just doing enough to stand out. Im surprised jouffret isnt in. Hes great in elite 1 but ive never seen him play at championship level.

On paper maybe the best back-room team ever? Certainly in recent times. Especially with Trent Robinson as Rugby Director leading. Laurent Frayssinous as head coach and with assistants Sean Long and Maxime Greseque. Adam Innes (TO) and Mathias Pala (Dragonds reserves) physlcal preparation complete the line-up. Fingers crossed.

That’s a half decent squad. It’s a shame the Super League only based England13 side doesn’t play them on an annual stand-alone rep weekend every year instead of this contrived combined Nations fixture.

Pity the french players are only keen to play in the world cup. The dragons players normally get pulled out of friendlies
