Championship TV deal getting closer

I personally think that SKY would pay some extra money for the Championship (Premier Sports is a waste of time for sponsors) and this may fall into line with them also making an offer to take the Rugby Union Championship back alongside the Pro 14 (BT will not be letting the Premiership out of their clutches)

If its a NO from SKY only option is Our League and simply build it up.

I’ve seen nothing over the recent seasons to suggest they would. Why would they change this stance and at the same time pay less for Super League?

Things have changed a lot over the last year our viewing figures are excellent on SKY and they are all looking for more Rugby content at present.

Viewing figures are surely higher due to lockdown. That won’t be missed by Sky

Gets said a lot but but how do we know? They show the MPG and Bash. Toulouse Vs Fev would look good etc

They’ve owned the rights and haven’t showed weekly rounds, they’ve done bare minimum and only showed more when Toronto footed the Bill for production costs. Why would this suddenly change

Don't Sky show the union Championship as a condition of having the England rights?

Don’t know but it’s a very small number of games at kick off times that would have 30 pages of moaning on here

I think the game would be better having a highlights packing on ITV on an Monday evening, like Rugby League Raw (but not that raw)

Correct

Unless there is realistic money on the table regular season lower tier RL should not be shown live

The 2nd Division is your undercard, should be employed like a promoter has his undercard, one it develops future fighters (players) two it garners interest as you'd have it free or a lot cheaper, three it adds a nice bit of extra value to the punter rather than just a main event....

Or it looks after its own interests in the best way it can for its own benefits

They have the rights already iirc, and don’t show it? Other than Toronto paid for them to show their games (which was great).

There was mutterings on here of a Sky 'Rugby' channel. Sky have SL, NRL and buts if union. Why not stick second tier league/Union best weekend fixtures on top?

Please, stop dragging union into everything. (I see you spell it with a capital, but excuse me if I don't).

There's a cross code forum for these joint initiatives you seem so fond of.

Highlights package would be the best way to go, do something like RL Raw, but sanitized so it can be shown at an hour available to a large audience. The problem with live games is your fixture choice is more restricted if you avoid potential blow out games and avoid those stadia that might not be so well geared up for live broadcasts, meaning that some teams might just not get seen. Highlights overcomes these, even blow outs don’t matter if the package is well put together.

Of course finding someone to pay for such a package (as indeed would be the case for live games), is the real challenge, especially if you are trying to reach the largest possible audience.

The RFL have had "promising talks" with several broadcasters, including Premier Sports:

and as the MEN cover RL as a space filler, when did we ever beleive anything they, or the Daily Mail write about Rugby League?
