Combined Nations Team

Recommended Posts

Seeing as it’s the day England have chosen their twenty six man squad for the football European Championships this summer (four right backs - yeah, mad), this and comments made to Gareth Widdop and Jackson Hastings post-Warrington beating Salford has got me thinking about who’ll play against England at the end of this month for the Combined Nations.

Given questions were asked to Widdop and Hastings about whether they’ll play, I assume non-selected English players are available too.

Whose getting selected, do we think?

England (assuming Super League players only), my team on form would be:

1. Tomkins
2. Makinson
3. Hardaker
4. King
5. Davies
6. Lomax
7. Widdop
8. Walmsley
9. Clark
10. Watts
11. Bateman
12. McMeeken
13. Knowles

14. McShane
15. Oleszki
16. Cooper
17. Farrell

And for the combined nations, a bit more a struggle and I've probably missed out some obvious candidates:

1. Coote
2. Grace
3. Linnett
4. Mata'utai
5. Mamo
6. Reynolds
7. Sezer
8. Fifita
9. Parcell
10. Satae
11. Martin
12. Mau
13. Tetevano

14. Paasi
15. Fages
16. Tanginoa
17. Garcia

Id put Watts into the number 10 position you’ve got vacant. 😉

The halves for the CNXIII side is probably the most interesting aspect of the selection. Both Hastings and Widdop haven’t been picked for England and Sky alluded to them being available for the CN and with Reynolds, Maloney, Sezer, Lolohea and Lino about too, it’s an interesting headache for Sheens.

Don’t really care who plays as long as they have a realistic chance of playing in the World Cup. So, for example, you’d want Micky McIlorum playing over, say, Matt Parcell.

And Roby in.

There’s more French in that matchday 17 than the Catalan dragons matchday 17.

I think that you made a small but significant typo. Coote is brutish, not british.

Lachlan Coote, like the Jew hating drunk and Hollywood actor Melvin Gibson, has some remote Scottish heritage. But he is now a citizen of the Commonwealth of Australia — the country in which he was born.

He plays for Scotland though and made himself available for GB...

I took your post to mean no players from the home nations who would qualify for GB, which by the way is a little odd when compared to the babas
