Definitely left field this announcement but sincerely hope it’s true and that Montpelier sharks actually exist.

They definitely exist because they have Twitter and Instagram accounts AS WELL as their Facebook account.

Leon is going to be Director of rugby for the club, so not a board director as was my initial thought. Played for Catalans of course so must still have connections down there. Good luck to him, more improving French clubs the better.

Montpellier would be a great place for league.  You then have that southern belt from Toulouse to Avignon filled in.

Throw in Marseille and French RL is looking good.

And Nice of course. Fits the mould of a typical RL town. It’s often referred to as the Bradford of the Cote D’Azur (the casino at the Negresco Hotel is modelled on Mecca Bingo). Monaco would be an ideal expansion club if you want push a bit further east, like it’s English twin town Hull.

We've gone from discussing whether this club actually exists to having 6 French SL teams...

I don't think anyone is talking about 6 French SL teams. The discussion is about which big cities could potentially step up to Elite 1

Both in elite2 I believe.?

Would be good to see them both in Elite 1 at some point. Marseille, Montpellier, Lyon, Toulon, Avignon plus Catalan and Toulouse alongside the traditional teams such as Carcassonne, Villenueve etc is quite an attractive looking league

All we need now is for somebody to work Leigh into the argument and we’ve got a full house.

TGV extension to Leigh station?

Wonder if Stuart Reardon helped him open this door? 😉

Ah, another thread on French Rugby League turned into sticking pins in maps. Shame.

Sticking pins in maps? Marseille, Lyon and Toulon already have teams. You might need to elaborate
