Cesar Rouge and Romain Franco

Recommended Posts

Looks like they will be attached to the Dragons from now on after the Elite 1 has finished. Rouge (half back 18 yrs) has number 31 and Franco 32 (Winger/full back 23 yrs). Makes 6 apprentices in total along with Laguerre, Joe Chan, Cozza and Le Cam.

Rouge played for Limoux in Elite 1 in 2020 7 games before joining St Esteve this passed year. Made a name from the off. At nearly 6 feet (182cms) and weighs 13 stone (87 kilos) takes the ball to the line, Very physical presence for a teenager and does more than any in defence. He hasn't the template of the usal French half and why he is turning heads here.

Yes, it's early days and he's still raw. Some of us here would love to see a French half-back pairing able to take on the best across the Channel. Mourgue at 22yrs has arrived already I think.

So far only Laguerre and Joe Chan have played for the Dragons this season. With a hectic run-in come July and August the youngsters maybe get called in. Be interesting. The profile of these lads has been raised considerably from the past. Today you see Rouge for example taking the kicking-tee for Maloney in SL games. They're more involved showing up on the clubs web-site giving post match interviews too. 5 of the apprentices are in the France World Cup extended Group. Chan NZ born missing out.
