Great post. Apart from the made up stuff about Hetherington being behind club call and super 8s and that paranoia Saints fans seem to have about him controlling the RFL.

They were all stupid ideas from the Hetherington camp, and why he had such a hissy fit when Elstone was appointed and the first thing SL did was scrap the Super 8's and a full on toys out the pram when Reserves were brought back.

"The Hetherington camp" 😂

He's well and truly gotten inside your mind hasn't he.

Hetherington was against the separation of SLE from RFL (not necessarily the appointment of Elstone because the division always had and needed a general manager). It was a stupid power grab by the majority of top flight clubs from the governing body. It cost a load of money, was highly unlikely to generate positive game-wide benefits and entrenched more power in the people least appropriate to wield it.

Unlike I think all the other current club bosses Hetherington went through all this last time SL tried to separate from the RFL and knew how much that cost and how it had to be brought back together again.

As it turned out this appointment went even worse than anyone could have foreseen such that even McManus voting with Hetherington to get rid of him by the end.

But if you prefer to have the Leeds CEO as a bogey man to help you sleep at night feel free.

Whatever his job related to, he seemed well out of his depth.

Fair enough, really appreciate your in-depth assessment of how capable and effective he was at a role you say you don’t really know the details of or what it related to. We’ve a lot of people with those sort of analytical skills in our HR department 😂

Apparently this site says I "won the day" here on 23rd Jan, 19th Jan, 9th Jan also 13th December, whatever any of that means. Anyway, 4 times in a few weeks? The forum must be going to the dogs - you people need to seriously up your game. Where's Dutoni when you need him?

Didn't Hetherington oversee the massive modernisation of Headingley, bringing it into the 21st century and making it one of the few RL grounds that looks attractive on TV and would appeal to a wider audience (e.g. I hardly think seeing Wakeys ground on TV is going to enthuse youngsters to want to take up the game)

He also was one of the few SL chairmen to back the Wolfpack staying in the game. So to me he is one of the few with a vision to genuinely expand the game.

If anything, the game needs more like him.

Borrowed millions? But isn't this down to his Chairman?

In respect of retirement - How old is he?
