Hospitals filling with the under 50's, many of whom are on ventilators, but please travel along on your own sweet way.

With respect, this is the kind of overblown fearmongering rubbish we usually get from the mass media, and which you appear to be swallowing without question. Current ONS stats (link provided) offer clarification (and perspective) re the actual numbers. Meanwhile NHS waiting lists are conservatively estimated to be at around the 13 million mark and climbing, and heaven knows how many of those may be critical. That's what you get for slavishly embracing the restrictions and continuing to peddle the fear-porn.

Wasn't it the case that a couple of Newcastle United players were out for a few months after having Covid?. The young can also get Long Covid, which affects about 1 in 8. But hey, let's ignore that because we want to watch some rugby.

Nobody is ignoring the fact that anyone can catch and suffer from Covid, all we're saying is the 'risk' to young fit men, even if they are unlucky enough to catch it in the first place, is vanishingly low. But hey let's accuse me of caring more about watching a rugby game than people's lives - a low blow I would suggest.

Ok, maybe a little harsh. Let's agree to disagree and hope that we get to see the match tomorrow. No hard feelings mate.

my wild guess at what the 17 might look like based on what we know plus a lot of total guesswork:
Hall, Hardcastle, Gale, Chisholm, Kopczak, Brown, Harrison, Ferres, Lockwood, Davies, Cooper, Field, Sweeting, Summers, McConnell, Spence plus one other...maybe Doyle barring a surprise return for Welham?

back to the game...18-man squad named and looks like the 18 names above were a very lucky guess. Welham a very welcome return if he's playing, and can't see why they would name him unless he's water boy.

So if Welham is fit, possible line-up would be...

Hall
Gale
Hardcastle
Welham
Doyle
Brown
Chisholm
Kopczak
Davies/Sweeting
Lockwood
Ferres
Davies/Field
McConnell
subs
Sweeting/Field
Cooper
Harrison
Spence

for me I'd go with Sweeting at 9 as he's a recognised hooker and Jonny D is far more valuable in the back row, but that's just my opinion. Think we might start Harrison on the bench and then come on to play big minutes, we don't want Koppy, Locky and Harrison all off the field at the same time.

A stronger 17 than i thought it was going to be with room for posistional rotation!

i think locky could be used as an extra prop as well so might go with field / davies / mcconnell for example in the back row

What a strange 24hrs - barely had a team yesterday

York look to be missing a few - Ryan Atkins isn't in their squad, no Baldwinson, James Green, Riley Dean, Liam Salter from what I can see. They've got Cuthbertson back and Mikey Lewis from Hull KR who is a livewire.

Still, looking at our team, it does look potentially less weak than most of us thought, especially if Welham is genuinely ok to play and not just in as 18th man, because that would free up John Davies to play elsewhere.

I'm back to fancying us quite strongly again.

No hard feelings at all my friend, and agreed re tomorrow, which now looks a little more positive (pun intended) in view of the squad we've named. Interesting to see Welham is suddenly available again, just in time for a run out at Wembley, unless he's one of our usual named decoys.......

The Wembley programme just popped through my letterbox. Loads and loads about Fev, including a terrific article by our very own MarkLasPalmas.

I've delivered quite a few today pleased with mine as well.
