Well done Saints, they've done what they need to, but jeez this is uninspiring stuff.

Not that they care I'm sure.

Poor end but the game has been much better than I expected.

In these instances to give the try the ref must have seen it on the ground so he should just give it .

If he’s seen it on the floor he wouldn’t have needed to send it to video ref

cas cant come back when saints are nailing them with union style penalty kicks - stifles the play has it has done for the last 15 mins

did the bloke who invented the phrase "one hit wonder" invent anything else?

I mean Saints' performance. Hard graft, but nothing memorable in the actual Rugby stakes.

Makinson has been brilliant taking those short drop outs.

Yeah, that’s why I’m quite excited about Powell for next year.

He’s pretty good at getting hold of what drops out of shorts, too….

Evalds MotM, but the cup goes to St Helens.

Video relay check on every try, can't the referee keep up with play? Doesn't he have the confidence to award the try?

Ask Saints fans and Robert Hicks about that 😉

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

saints played kick n clap for the last quarter - ruined the final as it denied cas any chance to play rugby league in that period

Well done saints, best team on the day. What did strike me during this game is what supreme athletes we have in our sport, I applaud them all. To play in such difficult conditions with the heat to play at this tempo is absolutely amazing. We are lucky to have them. What a game.

Saints best team on the day, more big match experience saw them through

Roby said it all then. The heat made it impossible to maintain the speed and ferocity of the 1st half.

The 2nd half not a classic for neutrals, but I can tell you for a partisan, that was heart-pumping till the last 10 minutes.

Great advert for the sport. [mode:gritted teeth] well done Saints. Better team won [/reset]  Well done Cas for making a game of it but just did not have enough of it when it mattered. Certainly nothing to complain about regarding the officiating decisions. Spot on in my view.

Four legs good - two legs bad

For 60 that was fantastic. Feels like the end of an era for this Saints team.

Might be a few years before they are back now with turnover.

Cas were a credit to the first post pandemic final. I note that Wigan are getting close to a decade without a challenge cup trophy. 5 different winners in last decade, 2 in this one.
