Centurions unveil Magic Weekend shirt

Recommended Posts

I'm a bit torn on this one.  Obviously there is a very personal and touching story from Derek Beaumont behind both the special shirt and its design.  That is something I think we can all respect.

But, on the other hand, surely with cash generated from sales of the shirt going to Cancer Research, a very worthwhile cause, you would surely try and go for something that would generate more revenue.  I may be wide of the mark but I don't see many buying this for the shirt itself and so any purchase is in support of the charity... that's a good thing but with a different design you could have both surely?

My understanding is Derek is funding the shirt, ALL sales not profit to go to the charity.
His dad was a bit of a local showman who spent most of his life performing as a Rod Stewart tribute act all over the country.
The ability to have it personalised with a loved one lost or fighting the disease will be why it’s bought.

I wish I was able to do this when I lost my dad

I know I'm going to get shot down for being a callous barsteward here but why would you want to wear a shirt designed by Derek Beaumont to look like his dead dad's dodgy garb? The power has gone to his head. It's all me me me with him.

I tend to agree on this one. I quite like Beaumont, but I think this kind of thing is very self indulgent. I bought the Wire shirt for MND and Saints did the charity one a couple of years back with the charity logo - I think that is the way to go, this is the kind of thing an amateur club might do on a tour to a past player or something.

That is great and I am a personal supporter of Cancer Research.

I have some more feelings on what would have been the best approach here but I will just shut up and say I hope that this initiative delivers for a very deserving charity.

exactly the same on this.. support them heavily (as well as the specialist cancer hospital in sheffield) but agree with your second paragraph too.

I hope it's a good one because they are only there because we need 12 for Magic.

No idea what you're on about, but you actually think there will be a MAGIC weekend ? But at least lowly Leigh with their rubbish 21 man squad will be able to raise a team, unlike the BIG clubs that also have academy payers at their disposal. 🙄

Presumably influenced by the brand Desigual. I have a dozen eccentric shirts by them in my wardrobe, was avante-garde 12 to 15 years ago for those seeking a flamboyant look .

Leigh Centurions x Desigual

Collab.
