Everyone who bought tickets or who registered an interest has had a direct email. There are direct statements to fans on the website and on social media.

Do you want him to come and knock on your door?

Not really, I'd find that quite embarrassing.

Happy to be wrong if he did, whereabouts is that?

Here’s the Twitter link. If you want, I can ask him on Twitter if he’ll give you a ring to formally apologise and give you the lowdown?
He’s very nice and accommodating so I’m sure he won’t mind

The AFL also taking a hit on their TV deal is irrelevant.

Expansion is over. Expanding into another bit of Brisbane was already pushing the word 'expansion' into a parallel meaning and that is now the limit of the NRL's ambition. You've surrendered domestically to AFL and internationally to, well, every sport that isn't the AFL.

The RFL didn't make a loss last year. The NRL lost $24m. Good work.

There's no guarantees we'll have a World Cup next year and, if we do, it will be because of the work of everybody aside from the NRL. The same will be true if there's a World Cup that follows.

I'll judge him, and the NRL, on his actions and right now everything he's touched in rugby league has turned to failure.

Yeah but...but...he made NRL start playing again before other sports because he...errr...respects players health and welfare or something.

Also changed the rules so there are blowouts every other game. Genius.

I don`t like the way they`ve done it, but the WC will be on next year and four years after that.

I assume you mean 3 years after that? Unless I've missed something and its now 2026?

I'll have another look, but as of yet I've not seen anything where it says fans were considered when making the decision.

Fans are undoubtedly important but as a fan who was planning to go to various games I'm happy to cut them some slack. Their hand was forced and I absolutely think they wanted to continue but without players they had no choice but to postpone.

Here`s my prediction, 5 years and you will be eating your words.

Before he got the job there were people saying he could do for League what Ecclestone did for F1.  V`landy`s is more ruthless than even I thought, NSW Racing wasn`t big enough for him, League will give him something that can he can take around the world.

You`re upset at the moment and your angry, but as I said, 5 years.

If you’re right I will publicly apologise to you, but it’s still too raw at the moment. It’s obviously my failing but at the moment I can’t rise above my hatred, yes hatred! And contempt for those in the NRL who’ve engineered this

That doesn't really say anything about fans being a consideration, just that they hope people will continue to support the tournament.

I still stand by what I say, they have rightly emphasised that players missing out was a big consideration and that players are a big focus of the competition and why the decision was made, I actually don't think wishing they had emphasised fans are important to the decision too is unreasonable.

All the fan mentions are about how fans have supported the tournament and they hope we will continue to support it.

I'm a big supporter of International Rugby League, I bought tickets as soon as they went on sale, and I sucked it up when they later went on general sale with more precise seating options. I'm really not aiming to kick the organisers whilst they are down, it's just my honest initial thoughts on the statements I've seen.

Like I said, I was aware some people would take exception and I understand that too.

Ultimately, one draws the others - the players/teams draw the fans. With the NRL taking out legal action to enforce them not having to release players, including those for nations other than Oz/NZ, it really became a straightforward decision, particularly given the points i'd already outlined following @Man of Kentpost. They have emphasised how much they want fans to stay with them on the journey and if you'd bought tickets, you'll no doubt have received an email giving more detail to fans involvement and options for refunds if you so wish. I'm really struggling to see your point

Not quite, the email doesn't actually mention anything regarding options for fans with tickets. The website statement does prompt you to sign up to a newsletter for updates when they are announced next week, but when you fill it in it immediately sends you an email which begins with this;

It feels like you’re trolling now but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. The email mentions everything regarding tickets - I’ll copy and paste my email:

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

We hope that you will continue your unwavering support and retain your tickets for the event in 2022. We want you to join us at an even bigger and better Rugby League World Cup next year.

We will contact you directly to confirm the new dates for next year's Rugby League World Cup in the coming weeks before the revised 2022 schedule is released this autumn.

Currently, we are working hard to ensure that as many matches as possible remain in the scheduled venues as presently planned. However, some changes may occur.

As a result, we understand that some customers may require a refund. To cater for this, we are currently working with our Ticketing Services Provider, Ticketmaster, to create a straightforward process and refund platform. If you have purchased via any other channels you will receive additional details on the process you need to follow.

You will be provided with full details of the timeline and refund process on 12 August 2021.

If you would like to keep your tickets to next year's event, then there is nothing more you need to do. We will automatically transfer your tickets to the corresponding fixture in 2022.

Should your fixture change once the 2022 schedule is released in autumn, you will have another opportunity to apply for a full refund.

Finally, we want to ensure that you and your squad are updated with all of the latest information on RLWC2021 in 2022. To help us, pass this email to each member of your squad and ask them to sign-up for updates.

Again, from all of the team at RLWC2021, we would like to thank you for your continuing support.

Trolling because I have a different opinion to you?

Happy to admit I'm wrong on that bit though after seeing your screenshot. They actually sent me two emails, the latest one and the version I have been reading is almost identical to yours but has the line about ticketmaster omitted. I assumed both emails were the same as they have the same subject line and that paragraph is the only difference. Having just checked the first email they sent it does have that ticketmaster line in there. This is the version without it;

How V'Landys and Beattie can come up with this stuff with a straight face is beyond me. Complete hypocrites:

Even after the decision was made, Australian powerbrokers felt the press release issued by the RLWC21 organisers could have been more conciliatory. ARLC chairman Peter V’landys felt much of the commentary from the northern hemisphere was “completely unnecessary”.

“They have to understand that, like it or not, Australia is a sovereign nation that makes decisions as a sovereign entity,” V’landys said.

“We make no apology whatsoever that we consider the welfare of the players first and foremost and will always do so no matter how much intimidation, no matter how much name calling, no matter how much they want to bully us.

“We will not buckle when it comes to the wellbeing of our players.

“I just can’t believe the amount of name-calling. I had to pinch myself to make sure Governor Macquarie wasn’t still in power.”

It was a sentiment shared by a fellow Commissioner, Peter Beattie.

“You have to be living in the rarified atmosphere of northern Scotland not to understand the COVID outbreak in Australia,” said Beattie, who is also a director on the International Rugby League board. “We’ve got Sydney in five weeks of lockdown, we’ve got Brisbane and south-east Queensland in a lockdown. This was about protecting our players and I just found that divisive and provocative [commentary] unnecessary.

“I had to pinch myself to make sure Governor Macquarie wasn’t still in power.”

ARLC chairman Peter V’landys

“Today’s concerning COVID figures of 262 locally acquired cases and five deaths prove that postponement of the RLWC was the most sensible and correct decision to protect our players.

“We need to work together to make the World Cup successful. To try to be divisive on this occasion is frankly unhelpful and disappointing.”

And the killer line about what it was all about:

This was a lesson, if any was required, about who really runs the game.

It’s a well known fact . Aussies don’t do irony . The rewriting of history has begun . Listen to Jon Dutton then listen to these .  I wouldn’t normally say this but theyre a couple of complete to$$ers .

There’s some more name calling to add to your note of how badly you’ve been treated Peter …

There’s a good comparison between England’s treatment towards neighbours (ie. France) with Australia’s towards England. There just isn’t the financial or competitive incentive for Australia in international RL and it’s been that way for a long time (State of Origin has had to fill the void). 50 years since GB won a series. Likewise England doesn’t really have much to gain playing France right now. England would win at a canter. RL is akin to that class sketch with John Cleese being Australia (“I look down on them”), Ronnie Barker as England (“i look up to him, but down on him”) and Ronnie Corbett as France (“I know my place”).

While the criticism of the Aussies for pulling out is understandable, their general apathy to the game outside Australia is too. The general criticism they get I feel is wholly unwarranted. They have a successful product in Australia, if that success isn’t matched outside Australia that’s not their fault. The 2013 RLWC made less than £4 million, the NRL meanwhile is a multi billion dollar (Aus) league. The Aussies would have made minimal amounts (if not a loss) from that tournament, and playing games against the like of us (Ireland) in front of 5k and Wales infront of 5k would only harm the perception of the sport in Australia. You want Australia to play these tournaments to help “grow the game”, but they’ve played every single tournament since the 1950s and the dial hasn’t budged. They have a lot to lose playing these tournaments as it damages the brand in Australia that their media has built up. The 1971 RLWC final between GB and Aus was played before 3k in France. Is it any wonder State of Origin was created to fill the void of no big time, competitive games outside the club season?

A sovereign nation who tells other sovereign nations what to do???

They've clearly been told by their PR people that they need to spin this as those brits telling us independent Australians what to do.

Unfortunately, what you described there won't change if and when the NRL gets control over the International game. They don't have any answers to that situation any more than British RL administrators do.

Absolute vermin, I honestly hope this all comes back to bite them on the balls somehow. Then they have the cheek to say we need to work together.  I wish we could tell them where to shove their ignorant, cretinous remarks and break all ties with them.

Its a pity the NRL didn't care for everyone's player welfare (and yes I know the player welfare excuse was laughable):

That's the worst part of all this, the women and disabled players missing out is much more disappointing than the men for me, in a time when for many if them this tournament will have been a fantastic light at the end of an awful tunnel.
