I've often wondered how the 1985 Cup Final looked to people in the sat in the stands that day. Basically identical kit design but for the black and red hoops.

It’s ok the crowd at Wembley were watching the game in colour.

Isn't the idea of avoiding a colour clash to make sure the kits they're wearing aren't 50% the same colour?

I've not seen the back, nor shorts, but I'm having horrible flashbacks to 2008 when three different teams came to the KC in a white kit to play a Hull team in a black and white shirt but white shorts and socks. Didn't have a clue who has the ball half the time.

When the back of these hooped designs are often a big white block so you can see the number, it's an absolute nightmare to tell teams apart at a distance when they've got their back to you.

Are you watching from atop the Humber bridge, the away strip has blue shorts & hooped socks.

Nice jerseys from Wigan, though the sponsor thing confuses me. Are Iconiq the sponsor or not?

Or is this a weird commercial thing where fans can buy a shirt without the main jersey sponsor? Which would seem a bit crazy to me.

Away shirt is too dark a blue for me. Which again just seems a bit of an odd and unnecessary thing to do.

I did some kit designs last year, just for fun, but never shared them on here, but if anyone is interested in taking a look you can see them on the link below.

Really cool 👍

The sponsor, or lack or, on the Wigan jersey has me scratching my head. I understand some fans prefer a jersey without a sponsor across the chest, but how do you sell that to the company who have paid to have their name on the jersey? And how do you also explain that their branding is being removed, but other sponsors on the sleeves and upper chest, who would have paid significantly less for that space, aren’t?..

unless the non sponsor jersey has Iconiq logo on the rear somewhere?

Just seems very odd to me.

It would appear to be a late sponsor as somebody else mentioned. It looks like they had the kits made without sponsors and then they signed this.

Particularly as they say you can have a blank one now and then upgrade to a sponsored one if you want one when they are ready. That hardly suggests it is them catering for no sponsor shirts. They also stress that it is this year only.

Nice. Cheers. Didn’t know that.

I should probably click a link and read all about it!

Wigan had trouble with a unidentified sponsor last season and it appears to have been Iqoniq, same with a number of clubs where their adverts gradually disappeared from shirts but Wigan were the only major shirt sponsor affected, 2 year deal I believe.

Replica shirts need to be signed off and ordered from sweat shops (all sports not just RL) in very good time so I suspect the club took the gamble a while back that if Iqoniq would not come though with the cash they would go sponsor free and started producing blank shirts.

That's not a bad gamble with it being a classic hooped shirt in the club's 150th year in the run up to Christmas so very big sales are expected. That gamble seems to have come good as Iqoniq are now on the later runs so they must have belatedly paid up.

Just to let everyone know that Oxen have a sale on England kit for Black Friday. They’re unlikely to have a sale like this for at least another week so best get in quick.

What sweat shops do Wigan and Hummel work with?

Here's a slightly better pic mate, not sure why that first one has been cropped!

That's a better pic.

Still think there should be more difference though personally.

If they have a big white block on the back, you're only going to be able to tell teams apart by the shorts at times.

Wakefield's home kit has blue shorts but white shirt. It's going to clash with both those kits horrendously.
