First a player you remember coming out of the academy retires, then you start to notice that more of the squad are younger than you, then suddenly the youngest coach is younger than you, then the children of the team you grew up watching start playing first team rugby. It's a bit like when a song you remember comes on the radio and then the DJ points out how old the song is.

I haven't checked, but for some reason I have it in my head that he either didn't like full-time pro RL or he didn't make it successfully. You may be right though. Futtocks
As announced today, John Hopoate's son will shortly be in SL. Not as good a player as his dad, but much better behaved. Peter Livett signed for Workington in June 1995 from Woolston where he'd been BARLA player of the year. The signing on fee was £8,500 He played 15 games for Town in the 1995/96 season (scoring 4 tries) and then 4 app's plus a sub appearance in the first Super League season. He played full back. In Aug 1996 his contract was cancelled by mutual consent (All info from Joe Holliday's encyclopaedia of Town players published in 2016)

BrisbaneRhino
One thing we could copy from AFL is the 'father-son' rule which gives clubs first rights to sign players in their draft. Obviously we don't have a draft but I'd give a dispensation off the salary cap. You'd have to set criteria (e.g. father must have played minimum 100 games for a club to apply the dispensation), but family ties add a lot to the sports history IMO.
