You can have all the field position you want but you rarely ever looked like scoring.

And if you think Will Pryce is your problem going off last night then deary me… Jack Cogger was utterly anonymous

We only needed a 5-10 minute spell because (for the first time all season) we looked threatening every time we had it in your 20. Problem is our shocking set completion and love of high tackles allowed you to stay in the game.

I think you have misconstrued what I said.

I said we were in control of the game up to that point, the fact that we led 8-0 says we did look like scoring, both teams were pretty poor in that respect, indeed, the only way Salford would get back into the game was through an error, and it duly came, gift wrapped.

I didn't say Will Pryce was the problem, I said we could do with taking him out of the firing line a bit, he's done enough to suggest he can certainly handle it, my fear is that there may be too much pressure on his young shoulders and we may burn him out a little bit.

There were 2 poor sides last night who both made errors and both looked tired and fatigued, the game was fairly exciting because of the closeness of it, and to be fair to Salford, they managed the second half well and saw the game out and probably just about deserved it, but our mad 2 minutes at the end of the first half turned the game in Salford's favour.

Watson under any pressure yet? this season his coaching ability has been quite underwhelming tbh.

Nope, he's less than a year into a 3 year building job, he's slowly getting round to getting the second level built.

His coaching ability has actually been quite impressive in his handling of big name player like Sezer, Edwards etc to the benefit of the team.

And would any team be successful having played most of the season with 10-12 first team regulars mssing?

Luckily, we've invested in a decent academy which enables us to bring good, young players through.

No he didn't, he left Salford for Huddersfield, a club that are constantly kept afloat by 1 mans money but have a great future and a great academy set up which Watson was excited to work with.

If you think Huddersfield are a club with megabucks then you clearly don't know much about the sport.

Strange some of them aren't they?

More concerned with beating Huddersfield and getting the bragging rights over Watson than being concerned that their own club is in the poo and seemingly about to have to swap grounds with a football team who were getting 50 fans watching them not so long ago.

They seem totally unconcerned that their club is possibly going to the wall due to lack of investment, they aren't bothered about having an academy system, aren't bothered about getting dumped out of SL, as long as they could beat Huddersfield and Ian Watson, and assaulting stewards when asked to respect covid protocols etc.

Weird, because most of the Salford fans I speak to at games and in pubs etc are absolutely spot on, decent, knowledgeable blokes.

Wouldnt think so.  Ken's got his hands full and squad is in flux so  he'll be judged next season.  If they arent in the playoff hunt or running deep in CC he will be out.

He won't be out, the club have invested a lot in IW and GB to fix the playing side of the club and eventually have us competing at the top.

The turnaround of coaches and players every few years has damaged us, Watto and Browny were brought in to fix that, presumably based around academy graduates?

Yes but ultimately it is a results based business, if Hudds are still in the same position in 12 months they will look to make a change, thats the reality of the modern game.

The celebrations and consequent lap of honour by the Salford players/coaches and squad for beating a team 4th from bottom with the majority of their 1st team out was nothing short of embarrasing i thought, i was waiting for a cup presentation but it never came!!!

I guess beating a team now coached by their former boss is very high on the list of Salford Red Devils priorities and goals for this season.

As for the game, a typical Fartown playing Salford performance, take the lead and look ok, make an error, concede a try, do the same 5 minutes later  and then bang the game is gone.

When we needed to get the game back we couldn't, we looked inexperienced and just couldn't find that final effort to make something happen, this happens home and away against Salford literally every year.

Congratulations to Salford on winning the 'WebeatIanWatsonsteam' trophy, enjoy your success.

Wonder what was said to the usual calm and collected Leroy Cudjoe to make him turn around and go back after someone? Definitely not like him so i and others presume something was said as he walked off.

No, I’ve only been watching the game for 55 years. So I clearly don’t know as much about it as you do.

Easy tiger, calm Down.

Great win by the reds and chuffed that Marshall appears to have turned a corner and got the fans back on side.

Enjoyable game between two evenly matched sides. Though Salford really showed up and the pack bossed it.

From a giants point, like the look of pryce,. Not sure who mentioned taking him out of the team? Bit strange why ud take ur key half out, rather than manage the work load on him. But definitely see Watson influence kicking in and will only improve.

Then you'd know Huddersfield never have and never will have megabucks so a pretty silly comment to make then?

I am calm, just saying i thought the celebrations were a little, ney a lot OTT from the Salford camp.

It was a tense game and i suppose that made it enjoyable as the result was in doubt right up to the hooter, indeed if Senior would have held that last pass of the game we would have probably won it.

From our point of view we made 3 big errors and all 3 led to Salford scoring off the back of them, confidence dropped, discipline dropped and game management dropped on the back of all of that which ultimately cost us the game.

We didn't deserve to win the game on the back of our 2nd half and fair play to Salford for taking advantage, they wanted it more.

Hi Daz, the celebration at the end was due to several points, the fact that for the first time for ages we could sit in our paid for seats, next to our friends and fellow supporters, we had managed a win, that we needed against a team coached by our former coach with a couple of our ex players playing against us, people could socialise at the ground for the first time in ages the good times were back.

The lap of honour was what normally happens at our ground, usually better when we win, the players wives and families are usually at the front of the stand and the youngsters really being able to mix with the players and staff again.

On the match itself, giants were on top for most of the first half, although we defended pretty well then got the breakaway try.

Second half we got on top, still defending pretty well and finally won, in my opinion Yates was outstanding, young Pryce is an excellent prospect and needs to be looked after, his Dad was not too far away from us, and Ian Watson will do a good job but will need some time to do it, and Wardle looks to be a top class centre in the making.

Spoke to Leroy at academy game today and he showed me the 3 fingernail marks running from his eye down his cheek from Lolohea's fingers, no wonder he was fuming!

It was me who mentioned it and for good reason he's not a key half, he's still an academy player, admittedly a very good one, but he's still a kid learning the ropes.

To keep him in the side with the pressure already on his shoulders would be suicide, an opinion shared by many concerned with the club at today's academy game.

We need to develop him properly, dip him in, then pull him back out, to not only aid his physical development but also his mental development too.

I think the telling part was Huddersfield choose to take kicks for penalty rather than back themselves to score in the first half. I understand the first as the last game hinged on a drop goal. The first half was played almost entirely in the Salford 30 metre line. The only way we looked likely to score was via the breakaway.

The second half was more even  I was relieved to get a win. The celebrations are routine at Salford as we don't win many.

Thought  Kendal was at times baffling, did quite a bit of arm waving, he seemed to have no support from his team

I think taking him out doesn't benefit anyone and the best way of using him is to do as is currently being done and to give him a free rein. He doesn't call plays and he is just allowed to float a bit.

Regardless of what we think, I'm sure Watto will manage him correctly.

My god though he does look special:)

Disagree, it's been completely the opposite, he came in and made it clear that those who didn't want to be part of or weren't willing to put the hard work in that he and his team demanded would be weeded out and play no part in the team he wanted no matter how good.

We have seen in the last few weeks that those who are in the team are the ones who have bought into his ideals hence why we have picked up results with improved performances.

He said himself competition points this season were not as important as getting the processes drilled into the players.

We have seen by the players who are leaving that he isn't messing about especially where reputation is concerned.

He has been given 3 years to sort the previous messes out and he cannot do it in 6 months, nor should he be expected to.

As a Huddersfield fan i am more than happy with his input into the club so far, like others i will judge him when he has his squad of people who want to be here.

There is more to being a good coach than winning games.

Hell be great for you. Best coach we've had during my lifetime and was gutted when he left. Good luck for rest of the season

Hope so, we put a lot of effort into getting him, thanks for the kind words and all the best to you too.

Sums it up nicely I think.

We all agreed that an 8-0 lead wasn't enough despite all the possession and territory we enjoyed, Salford had offered little in attack until that breakaway, but then their heads and confidence went up, ours went down, I said at half time the last thing we need to do is concede an early try in the 2nd half.

But on the taking the 2, in a tight game it can go for you, unfortunately for us, within 2 minutes of converting, we made silly errors that made it easy for Salford to get back on the front foot, you can't legislate for that when opting to kick the 2.

I didn't think Kendall was bad, apart from he was very lenient with some of Salford's high tackling, which seemed to be a regular tactic, but then again, I'm usually too frustrated with my own team to notice the referee 😄

I don't think him facing the physical and mental rigours of competitive SL games with the added pressure of who he is, what he's done already benefits him long term though, problem is, he wants to take control, and authority, it's in his nature, even from the first couple of games he played, he was leading the get togethers behind the posts etc and geeing everyone up, that's the sort of thing you need from your experienced senior players.

Problem is, our experienced, senior players are too busy either talking up their next employers or checking their mates' prostrates!
