Saints being heavily linked. Bit of an odd one, IMHO, with Saints already signing Hopoate and having Percival, although could be interesting if they switch him to 2nd row. Haven't theu lost Coote because they can't afford decent wages? - if Hurrell is coming of marquee wages at Leeds you would think the drop to squad player wages at Saints would be too large a drop. Leeds aren’t offering him marquee wages after this season. Personally I wouldn’t be offering a contract at all, he’s a defensive liability

Saints are losing Coote, Naiqama, Thompson, Bentley and more than likely Fages so it looks like some juggling has been done. Two are retiring but Woolf would have liked to have kept the others but Saints just couldn’t (or wouldn’t) match the respective terms they were offered elsewhere. 2nd row would seem more of a priority as Welsby and Dodd are stepping up and Hopoate has been signed, that is why I wonder if Hurrell is seen as an option there. Regards the drop in wages…not sure what Hurrell’s options are otherwise. Can’t imagine any of the NRL clubs going for him, wouldn’t say he had justified the marquee wage enough for other SL teams to match those terms, Leeds certainly don’t look like they were offering to maintain that level of pay and not sure anyone would take too much of a gamble in the current financial climate. The Frying Scotsman
Would be a good signing for St Helens if need to increase publicity, visibility, and social media presence. Hurrell has over 4 times as many followers as the St Helens club do.

Tommygilf
You can never tell how much of this is his agent stirring the pot to boost his contract negotiations with Leeds.
Hela Wigmen
Sadly, we’re linked to Hurrell and Murdoch-Masila to fill the vacant second row spot developing in our side. I’m hoping it’s a combination of agents stirring the pot and lazy journalism just linking any Tongan to the club.
Guest
What's the point? If they wait 12 months then they can pay him part time wages.

fighting irish
I'd swap him, for Percival. He's much more of a team player and willing to pass the ball, when it's obviously the right thing to do. Regan Grace will probably score 10 more tries a season playing outide Hurrell.
Saint Toppy
Unless he's being seen as a 2nd row by Woolf there's no reason why Saints would want him. Hopoate & Percival will be 1st choice centres with Josh Simm as back-up St.Helens - The Home of record breaking Rugby Champions
Bod
Simm eyeing up a move to the NRL, hence only signing a one year deal at Saints.

Not sure what is happening with Rhys Martin as he was linked with Cas but it has all gone quiet since. If Saints are looking at 2nd row then Martin would be worth a look, can kick goals as well. DavidM
He’s good on his day , he’s a threat when he doesn’t drop it , he’s strong defensively apart from all the times he isn’t and he’s moving like the Queen Mary , he sets up his winger apart from the times he makes a mess of it and he’s a benefit to a team apart from all his errors . Sometimes caviar often cabbage and after he stormed on the scene he always has been IMO , hence why he came here . Saints are / should be better than him

He's actually a really strong tackler but its his poor reads and lack of sideways mobility that often sees opposition centres beat him on the outside. I like Hurrell and want him to stay at Leeds but he’s never going to be fit enough to play at SR, he just doesn’t have it in him im afraid. He is box office though and if you want yo be entertained he’s that type of player. He is however injury prone mainly down to the way he plays the game

Before Hurrell we hadn't had a box office line breaker since Ali Lauititi.

Fans as always see what they want to see depending on their emotions... barn storming runs made him a hero, subsequent poorer form of the team see's his weakness. We are a fickle lot. Personally I'd keep him and use him from the bench when the opposition are tiring... he can with his barn storming runs lift the team. If you can stop him jumping the line the rest of the defensive setup/line could cope better. Although he ain't the only at Leeds prone to jump the line... One thing I admire with saints the confidence and patience they show when the opposition is moving the ball wide and at speed...
