I just don't really understand this attitude.

Yes, you would expect the teams at the top of the league to have the first choice of players by providing opportunity to win things alongside the cap spend etc.  But there is (as you say) a market for the players who may be 'also ran's' .  It just feels to me that if you don't have the biggest budget so why hinder yourself any further by also portraying a culture within the business that appears unattractive.  It is self defeating.

I am still hopeful that Dr Koukash comes on board at Leigh but as time goes by and nothing has been said I am doubtful that would happen, but if it did and Leigh's spending power could match if not surpass any of the other clubs, I am sure there would be many on this site who would resent it happening.

Leigh came into Super League with a handicap, but there's no reason to say that if the players had been motivated, if they had felt valued and that if there was a vision or prospects that they can buy into, their performances wouldn't have been better than they have been. They still might not have been good enough to overcome those handicaps and stay up, but they may well have been better than they have been.

When people feel valued, they go the extra mile, they buy into the ethos of the environment they're in, they're more likely to join and they're more likely to stay if you want to keep them. Demotivated staff will only ever give you just enough so as not to get fired. If you want more from them, you have to offer them something and unfortunately, the threat of a lambasting in the press isn't going to cut it.

Again, I'm sympathetic to the situation Leigh found themselves in this year but if Beaumont wants to build a rag-tag bunch of players who couldn't get contracts elsewhere into a competitive team, he has to work an awful lot harder at making them feel valued. If he wants to treat them like dirt and lambast them in public, then he has no right to complain when the players respond in kind, and see their time in Leigh as a contract where they'll put up with him for a year for the sake of a decent pay day. As @Dunbar rightly says, if you're already at a disadvantage, why entrench that further with a toxic culture?

Again, it's a culture that Beaumont seems happy to build at Leigh and one he seems happy to revel in. He's free to do that, but he isn't free of the consequences of doing so.

You have managed to write in four paragraphs your complete lack of comprehending what has been going on at Leigh this season, but don't let facts get in the way of your imagination.

You said "money talks", I'm just pointing out that evidently there is a limit on that.

That limit is evident on what league you are actually in. Still no clarification yet and still signings are now being made. Again who ever faces promotion will again share the consequences Leigh have.

How were London far more competitive than Leigh with a squad which it was widely reported was way off the full salary cap? It is blatantly not just about money.

And especially so if 2023 does go to 2 x 10's there us a strong possibility that 3 clubs could be relegated Toulouse or *Fev would be favourite for the drop if only one was going down if it's 3 then they would have a snowball in hells chance of staying up.

* Fev are my favourites to win the Championship GF.

How competitive have they been this season as a full time club?

It may be of course that there are a number of players not signed elsewhere for reasons other than quality. Even so, I believe that newly promoted teams need protection from immediate relegation, despite their owners best efforts to alienate everyone. There must be  some decent idea out there. Maybe it's time to consider some sort of draft system, for example. A decent sensible cool calm and collected discussion within the game would not go amiss, but those adjectives might rule out at least  one owner from the discussion.

Scrap or raise the salary cap significantly to allow a promoted club to outspend those treading water in Super League.

Perhaps more radically another approach would be to give the promoted club more in funding to allow them to overcome the inherent disadvantages that a promoted club faces. Obviously SL took the complete opposite approach with Leigh this year.

I've always thought anyone who does business with Beaumont wants decking.

That is absolutely top quality.

What’s been going on at Leigh this season?

In respect of the playing roster, at the outset the weakest of all the teams but the numbers of players available for most of the season has been really bad, and even when 17 could be put out there has been 4 half backs in the starting lineup many times playing in the forwards.

All fair enough.  But in what way does it mitigate the terrible leadership he has displayed by publicly slagging off his playing staff?

What higher league could Leigh have been in to recruit? I've no doubt at least 2 clubs in Super League operated on lower potential budgets than Leigh this season (Wakey and Salford), but Leigh couldn't get anybody of serious quality to sign for them. With the toxic culture in the club organisation, exposed in full force by Beaumont’s comments last weekend, money didn't talk.

You are obviously can’t answer that.

I don't need to. If London can be more competitive than Leigh in SL, despite spending considerably less, then it obviously isn't all about the money. There are a myriad of factors at play

You also answered a question with a question. A question that again shows that it isn't about the money if a full time london team is performing worse than part time teams spending considerably less. You are arguing against yourself.

What should he do? Bury his head in the sand like most in this sport.

First and foremost, don't do any of it in public and don't group people together to slag them all off.  All that will do is disenfranchise those who are working hard and trying their best.

In any organisation there are underperformers to identify and manage out. But you do that behind closed doors and you don't let that impact the wider culture in the business.  Praise widely and challenge those who need to be challenged.

As a leader he should be showing positivity - not just for those there today but also to attract talent in the future.

In any organisation there are 5% or so who spread disharmony and create a toxic culture.  Leadership is about identifying and removing that.  Unfortunately, one of the 5% here may be the leader.
