Supposedly with his contract money and job down fax he's supposed to be on around 50k which would probably be more than a super league contract

He's a really good attacking player but might need to beef up a bit if he's to justify that sort of contract and play SL...6.45 below and his "clash" with Gareth Gale...

Got the pace and skills just needs to beef up . Seen that game on our league Gareth Gale is a battering ram as a winger best by far in the Championship

Yeah let’s write him off on one tackle,he’s a top talent who won’t look out of place in Superleague.

Exactly this, some of the contracts that SL teams offer to championship players are ridiculous. It wouldnt be surprising if the contract Fax have offered him is somewhere near what he got offered to play in SL.

As for Walmsley needing to bulk up, we all know what is possible you only have to look at the skinny frame of Zak Hardaker playing in the Championship and to look at him now to see that.

From a technical standpoint, Gale's little move back inside stands Walmsley up so he is in no position to make that tackle. If he had just run straight over him in a normal defensive line then I would agree but this is more to do with Gale's quality rather than the lack of quality in Walmsley.

Yeap,it’s one of the reasons a lot of Cumbrian players have turned down Superleague offers over the years.

Walmsley doesn’t need to bulk up to play in the Championship, you’d risk losing his existing qualities.

Brandon Moore was one of them last season basically having to take something like 20-25k paycut to play at the elite level in our sport.

An illustration of what a tough game this is to call...only 2 bookies have priced it up so far (according to Oddschecker), Hills go 8-13 Haven 5-4 Fax, Skybet go 8-11 Fax 11-10 Haven, so with the draw at 22-1 there's an arb there for anyone who a) has an account and b) doesn't value it.

In fact I've just checked the Batley v Bradford odds and the two firms again have different favourites...Bradford 8-11 with Skybet, Batley 4-6 with Hills. So again you can back either team at odds against.

Any players that a neutral should keep an eye on in this game prospectwise?

Well, the two players that Whitehaven fans will have their eyes on are the aforementioned Lachlan Walmsley and Louis Jouffret...and if the rumours are true the same could be said for Halifax fans.

They are the two players amongst the two squads with a touch of class. Dion Aiye usually catches the eye but he's well into his 30s.

Brandon Moore is probably Halifax's best player, James Woodburn-Hall sometimes catches the eye, but not sure there are many other "prospects" on show if you're talking SL potential.

Jake Bradley if selected only 19/20 plays 13.

Andrew bullman on the wing.

Guy Graham (prop) playing his 1st season in Rugby league still raw but improving every game.

Good info here. I spend more time than most watchng Championship RL but there haven't been that many opportunities to watch Whitehaven (plus my team played them only once this season) and as a group they are probably the least well known in the league.

Hardly a “prospect” as he’s 27/28 but Karl Dixon is a great player for Haven,he’s switched between centre & stand-off all season but could possibly replace the injured McNally today at fullback.

Great cut out pass for the first try.

Hope you had a bet on Fax…

Thanks, I am interested in the betting and enjoyed your post.

I wonder what odds Batley will be in the semi final?

Clever play there from Fax to wait for the winger to start getting to his feet.  Could have been a fluke of a try.
