Steve Prescott Man of Steel shortlist

The problem with selecting a player for any award is that the criteria is subjective for individual matches; it’s all based on opinion. I do wonder what our journalists actually watch sometimes as some of those opinions are quite frankly mind boggling. That said, they’ve tried to implement a system which uses subjective was for individual games with a proper ‘table’ of sorts. Can’t complain about that; just those individual match choices from the journalists.

Tomkins, Maloney, Walmsley, and Knowles have been the best players at Catalan and Saints this year. Kasiano has been good too. Oldezki and Abdull have been excellent when they’ve played as well. Linnett and Prior have been excellent as well. Widdop decent but nothing more at Warrington; nobody at Wigan has shone. All my subjective opinion though…

Give it to Tomkins.

A lot of these sort of awards seem a bit dated in there concept.

As others have said players in the Spine have more chance of winning than others.

Look at the Golden Boot winners it  is filled with Players that are in a teams Spine. (In recent times Makinson has been the odd man out)
