I don't think anyone's in cloud cuckoo land and I'm sure 99% of true Town fans know that this is going to be one hell of a tough season, one that is going to be funded on a reduced budget.

But what's wrong with being optimistic and appreciative of good quality signings and re-signings?

Everyone at the club and many from outside of the club I'm sure, are striving to make Workington Town the best it can be, it's not easy and they won't always get it right but without them doing what they do we wouldn't have a club at all.

UTT

Exactly that, I don't see why he thinks anyone is living in cuckoo land, I think we all are realistic and realise we are favourites for relegation for a reason. But that just gives us a target, another reason to show everyone they were wrong. Our squad isn't finished, there are signings to come and if we see our problem areas then I guarantee so do the coaches. Unfortunately it isn't as easy as knowing we need a big aggressive prop then just hey presto, here's one I had hidden up my sleeve all along.

To be honest out the three I think Barrow on paper have the best squad, but it means nothing on the day, if you are up for it anything can happen.. look at our result against Widnes. A think Haven are probably one forward from having a better squad than last year and Town need a fresh half and two more forwards to compete. There’s gonna be a few blow out scores on the way but survival is a must. But what ever happens gonna be some great games on the way.

We have retained every player we wanted bar an ageing Mcnally probs one of the best wingers outside sl and joufrett we have brought in player who have played higher level of rugby than joufrett and walmsley and are easily stronger than barrow how can you say barrow are stronger than haven when they have just been promoted and haven have got to the playoffs in a very hard championship league it’s about survival for town and barrow this year haven are head and shoulders above both simply because we are used to the championship and are competitive there town and barrow are untested and struggled quite a bit in league 1 although got promoted best of luck to all the 3 sides as the area needs us sticking together anyone who can pick a starting 13 never mind 17 out of havens squad is a magician as every player is quality

Personally I hope I'm wrong but we are in for a long year and on the end off some very big scores as the majority off the pack from last year are no where near championship standard so it's going to take some big recruitment and I can't see that happening

And before everyone starts stop living in cloud cuckoo land and actually put your honest opinion because I can guarantee Thorman won't want to go into this season with the current squad but probably has no choice due to lack off funds

I'm certain everyone isn't naive enough to think that after 6 weeks of off season we can click our fingers and have an experienced championship squad that is capable of fighting off relegation before a game is even played. Who says the inexperienced squad isn't championship level? Alot haven't played there before? For example Tom Wilkinson cleaned up at havens presentation night. Played in the same team as Hanley Dawson a few seasons ago?

I honestly don't think there is that much of a jump needed to be competing with the like of dewsbury and Sheffield etc. Barrow were meant to win the league at a canter last year and it didn't happen.

I'd be interested to know your expectations? Would you rather be in league 1 but winning more games?

Tom Wilkinson played league 1 and won the league with haven in 2019 then made the step up championship and could play in most sides he’s that good but I’m not saying town aren’t gonna be competitive it’s just if town struggled in league 1 last year however still got promoted it’s will be a massive step up from league 1 to championship with the same or similar unless the lads can up their games every week it’s possible but you have to aim for the games against barrow dews Sheffield batley even haven as Derby’s go out the window in terms of form so could go anyway the most interesting thing we found last year anyone can beat anyone on the day it’s how u prep and turn up I hope and wish town and barrow all the best

It’s gonna be extremely tough , everyone knows that . But I wouldn’t swap it for anything , it’s gonna be a far better watch and seeing some teams which are basically becoming SL2 teams already . But stripping it down we don’t have to match those teams , they are but they’re not in our league if you know what I mean . We need to strengthen to compete with a group of teams that may be in the bottom segment and try to keep our head above water . We’ll see what shape we’re in when we start . Chris is clued up he knows the score . Still can’t wait , whatever’s coming !

How did town struggle in league 1 this season can I ask? We were top of the table until we had a little blip towards the end of the regular season and then won the play offs. Quite convincingly against Donny may I add.

That’s what I meant u won promotion all be it with a blip and some games lost you probs should have won but that league last year was easy to get out of some very poor sides in you and barrow wer the stand outs but I said even after the final against Doncaster the standard was very poor from both sides and nowhere near championship level and either side will struggle massively if nothing is done and from what I’ve seen so far you haven’t got any real players of championship standard brought in maybe a couple from Newcastle and relying on amateurs and I’m just being honest I want u to stay up in this league as our derby games are brilliant and the area needs it I just hope you pull some irons out the fire soon marra

In what way did Town, who were top of the league in the final weeks if the league and could have gained automatic promotion, struggle in L1?

What I mean is the standard in league 1 was poor last year only town barrow and donny had a dig town lost some games in a very poor league and got promoted now I’m not having a dig here at all I’m a Cumbrian rugby fan and a massive haven fan I actually want town to do well and stay in the championship I’m just saying it’s a huge step up from last year and you have to be on the ball every week otherwise you get flogged I’m looking forward to seeing you get some players in the coming weeks

How do you know they haven’t got any players of Championship standard, when a lot of them have never played in it,a bit like us when we got promoted with local “amateurs like Dixon,Bullman,Wilkinson etc who went on to be some of our best players.

How the efff were we poor in that playoff final? Everyone knows it's a better league that naturally comes with it being the league above and until we announce our full squad how does anyone know how we'll do? One thing we have is one of the best coaches in the league and I for one have total faith in him..

go **** yasell ya little **** gain NL1 then take ya **** out ya dads **** then speak proper rugby talk. you jameating little spotty ****...itchy waa waa 2008...

In general I wouldn't disagree. You will see this as a dig at haven but it's not, but the standard in the bottom half of the championship "last season" IMHO was also poor. It was nowhere near as tough in the bottom half as it usually is. It's no coincidence we were in the height if a pandemic. The championship will be tougher this season coming.
