They’ve just shown a men’s and women’s internationals in a foreign country arranged at short notice when they didn’t have to. They are showing every game of next year’s World Cup. Instead you have 1) some clueless web person who, though they should do working in the dept they do, obviously knows nothing about RL 2) the editor of Breakfast either didn’t know about it or the sports editor didn’t think it warranted attention - granted that on this it should have been mentioned. Granted that could be personal bias or probably just plain lazyness. The BBC’s coverage is not perfect by any means but it is a huge organisation, all working in little bubbles and we/RFL needs to feeding each department stories every day to make their life easier - they may be doing this but I doubt it. It’s fantastic they showed the womens international live on national tv, it’s great they showed the mens England game but it’s very frustrating this isn’t joined up with accurate social media posts and build up on bbc news programmes, why can’t they get it 100% correct? I'm in this camp too. Of course we want perfection but remember Tony Bellew, a professional athlete, when interviewed at the Grand Final and in awe of what was happening on the pitch admitted he didn't really know the difference between Rugby League and Rugby Union. So the BBC post a picture of "Rugby" to illustrate an upcoming RL game. Makes perfect sense. If RL fans don`t take the trouble to differentiate, hardly surprising that others don`t think it matters. This. Absolutely. Rugby League is no longer "rugby" in the rest of the world. It might still be in bits of Yorkshire, but if the fans actually want the sport to grow, they need to stop talking about it like it is the same as "rugby" which is a game that the 6nations play in February/March and the public stands in pubs watching. Rugby League will never build its own profile by calling itself "rugby". That battle is long since lost. (if Rugby League even fought it in fact...) It’s like the NHS - doctors, hospitals, appts, blood tests etc - often cannot get things right. It is vast, over many sites and cities and all with their own editorial choices and staff (some more favourable to RL than others). We think all the parts talk to one another but they don’t! It is very encouraging. I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.
