metallithrax
Quite a few years since I last went, and a lot has changed since then. It is a place that you either like or loathe. We aren't gamblers but still enjoyed it, plenty of places to eat and drink, plenty of shopping. There are rollercoaster/rides at a couple of the hotels. We had trips to Laughlin which is a small place on the Colorado river that has a few casinos and shopping places. There are always things to do, places to go - Grand Canyon, Helicopter over the strip etc.
Robin Evans
Never been. See loads of pics of it. Read loads about it. Daughter been. It's the kind of place that I would avoid at all cost. I genuinely would decline an all paid for first class trip if someone offered that to me. Daughter absolutely adored her time there. She describes it as a fabulous place that she would return to. Would I go? Emphatically no. Should you go? Go and try it. You may just have a blast. 3
JonM
Been twice, twenty years apart. Both times swore never to go back. A day is plenty of time to gawp at the horror of it all. Very cheap hotels, food and drink, so it's an ok place to stop over between trips to the national parks. Some people love it, obviously.

hindle xiii
Earlier today I heard the following paraphrase about Las Vegas: "The Strip, and everything on it, is just one street in the city." I think the sentiment was the Strip doesn't represent the city of Las Vegas, but also there isn't much beyond the Strip either. The source of the above was the musician Ne-Yo, who grew up in Las Vegas and who was on the TV show Sunday Brunch this morning.

Hire a car, easy driving across the desert - Grand Canyon, Williams Arizona, Death Valley, Hoover Dam, the national parks in Utah (Zion, Bryce and more) all not that far away and well worth the trip. LA is under 4 hours on the freeway and an interesting drive.

Bedford Roughyed
For 2-3 days it is fun. Can't see the point for anymore than that. 1 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

This is exactly what I think of the place, I think there is only one place in the world I would want to visit less and that is Disneyland, any incarnation of it. That's just me though, it's just really not my sort of place.

Yes for a first visit just to experience the extravagance and OTTness of the place. Plenty of good residency shows to choose from next year (Kiss, Scorpions, ZZ Top, Santana etc), cheap compared to normal gig tickets. I saw Aerosmith last time I was there. https://www.lavishvegas.com/news/list-of-las-vegas-residency-artists-in-2019-12272.html Edited October 24, 2021 by Derwent 1 I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally
fighting irish
I got married in Las Vegas and loved every minute of it. Loads to see and do and really high quality entertainment. For those who've been to (Disneyland) Florida and who might expect that family orientated experience and 'go the extra mile' service, it's not the same. It's a place for adults with adult orientated offerings. If you have enough money, you can get almost anything you might want. They are more judgemental (in my experience) of the customers too. They tend to weigh you up instantaneously (whether, you've got any money) and may change their treatment of you accordingly. Remember the ''tips'' the waiting staff get can significantly increase their total income. They like high rollers. On the day of my wedding, when I appeared in my wedding attire, almost everyone in the hotel were noticeably different towards me, (than when I had my jeans and tourist T-shirt on, days earlier) smiling, saying ''good morning'', opening doors for me etc. As long as you're not naive and foolhardy it's a great place. Oh there's no clocks either, I was having a drink in a piano bar, one night and when I checked it was 4.30 a.m. (without me realising it).
shaun mc
Was there about 20 years ago for 4-5 days. Not a place I'd ever choose, bit others wanted to go, after time in Chicago We spent a bit of time away from the place - day at Grand Canyon and another at Hoover Dam, they were good Also managed to see Fleetwood Mac at Caesars Palace (wasn't planned) Remember the hotel was ridiculously cheap - think it was The Sunset, at the top end of town
bobbruce
Watch a show plenty to choose from. You can easily spend a day going round one of the big hotels in fact you can completely lose track of time in one. I’d say try to get down to the old strip as well. Something we didn’t do and I wish we had was take a trip out to the Grand Canyon. As someone said earlier it’s not for everyone but certainly worth a visit. GUBRATS
Went for 4/5 days nearly 20 years ago , fantastic place , very difficult to explain exactly what it's like , did the helicopter into the Grand Canyon , was quite funny , we wanted to book for the following day , but it was booked up , " you can go in 1 hour if you like " , so 900 quid lighter , me , the wife and 2 sons ( daughter stayed with nan and grandad at the hotel ) climbed into a large mini bus outside Circus Circus and off we went , stopped at the Belagio , older couple climbed in " come on luv " as he helped his missus up the steps , they were from Bolton We ended up flying low over the desert with me and the bloke from Bolton chatting about the best pubs round Rivington I'm not a gambler , but do enjoy blackjack in a casino ( usually on a cruise ship before bedtime ) , we were there the last week in January , just before the Super Bowl , the cheap motels and trailer parks filled up almost overnight on the Fri/sat , more people go to Vegas to watch the Super Bowl than go to the super Bowl itself Was interesting walking down the strip at night eyeballing the card distributors to stop them handing ' business cards ' for prostitutes to my 2 teenage sons I do hope to go back without the kids ( and parents ) one day , was looking at next march , but that plans changed now Glad we went , it was one of my mother's long held wishes to visit there , she loved it

The strip is like you would expect. For downtown, we were taken to either Atomic Tavern (most likely) or Atomic Liquors (possible), so try them both. The desert suited me. 1 "You clearly have never met Bob8 then, he's like a veritable Bryan Ferry of RL." - Johnoco 19 Jul 2014
Mumby Magic
Thanks no I'll get there eventually but it's way down on my list. Have "family" on Facebook that live in a whole plethora of places and will hopefully put me and my family up. I'd prefer Seattle, Pittsburgh etc and experience the real USA than a glorified Blackpool. Like poor jokes? Thejoketeller@mullymessiah
