Was it ever anything other than merchandise sales? No coach appointed, no finance  behind it.

You may be confusing the New York City operation with the NY Freedom, the first never really existed other than as an online shop whilst the Freedom was / is a real entity with a ground, coach and a growing squad which would have been ready to go if the dodgy NARL cash hadn't suddenly vanished overnight. The Freedom pulling out of the NARL indicates they are probably going to align themselves with the USARL, who are working with the IRL to try and get themselves properly organised for next year.

Forgot to add, the NARL looks like a dead duck unless they have found another dodgy investor, which I doubt, but we'll see what they have to say for themselves tomorrow.

Is the World Cup in the US still going ahead?

It is only the preferred option and no decisions have been made, I think the IRL will want to get France 2025 confirmed and the organisational work well underway before looking at getting the 2029 event agreed. Doubt it'll be decided upon for a year or two and they will also want to know how the US game is developing, that's probably part of the reason the IRL are currently working with the USARL. I think the NRLs growing interest in the US sports betting market might actually make the USA a more likely candidate for 2029 as they will see potential benefit in it for themselves.

Hopefully the USARL will continue to grow

Why can't they all come under ome banner and grow the game together

I'm guessing because Toronto were due to be a big part of this and they're not from the USA, so playing under the USARL banner would be counter productive you what they're hoping to achieve in Canada.

As long as they're the body got the professional game on that continent, working with the USARL and CRL, I don't see a great issue with it.

Eternal problem with human beings.

Each want their own way, their own agendas, their own powers, so they go separate ways, it's how RL came to be and more recently the darts splt.

We will see these splits, arguments civil wars for ever as humans will never change, IMO.

Yes, not always wise to step on toes. Quite clear from the outset all are separate ventures.

I do believe they should merge all their assets which in this case is viable/ish teams.

Take them at the top to discuss and compromise, each side may have to swallow some pride, but it would be for the greater good of the sport in North America

Without a doubt. Create competition, it won’t create itself.
