Regarding funding and revenue at Featherstone...

The Wakefield grant has to be spent on facilities and local initiatives in the community. This was part of the contract. The club already have announced details of various plans to support and invest in local sports clubs etc (not just rugby) . Same money went to Cas and Wakefield too.

We can afford the caliber of player we have attracted because of how well the club is run and supported. Consider these points:

- Martin vickers has raised an additional £250k in sponsorship revenues in the last year or so.

- We have sold a record 1500 adult season tickets this season

- We own our own ground and make a lot of money out of it throughout the year

- We have a healthy and ever growing Squad builder scheme which supporters contribute to on a monthly basis

- We have our own TV channel which many supporters across the country subscribe to each month

I could go on. As Brian McDermott said today in the press conference we are run like a professional outfit and he has no doubt we have a fully self sustainable business model and that we could stay in SL if we get promoted.

I saw that DB responded to the news but I can't seem to put my finger on the article, saying that he has bought a house for every overseas player. I wonder where things like that stand on the salary cap and if he should be more careful with his wording.

Saying that average house price in Leigh must only be around 5k anyway.

He'll buy a house and rent to the player as part of salary, not just give them a house outright.

I would be highly dubious about any statement like that related to Mr Vickers...........good luck to Featherstone but things rarely end well when he's involved

As a FEV fan DD when he came  I thought NO NO get rid but despite all his shenanigans in the past all reports coming out of the club is he's doing a very good job  and whether people believe it or not he really has raised over 250 k in additional sponsorship but as you say only time will tell if it all ends well but at the moment all things are looking rosy in FEV's garden

'Benefits' like this were clarified by the RFL years ago after one of the Wigan SC breaches. If a player is renting a property owned by anyone connected with the club (director, sponsor etc.) then it must be declared, and if they can't demonstrate that they're paying rent at full market value then its treated as a benefit and counts against the SC.

That's how it usually starts out

Can't see that this has been posted but quite insightful as to how he ended up at Fev. Slightly concerning/funny he didn't realise they weren't a SL club. Everything about this tells me it won't last long - either he goes home or a SL club snaps him up mid season.

REALLY H you honestly think he did't know they were in the championship when he signed  any way here's some more from JOEY

They were the team that wanted me the most out of anyone, including Super League.

"Brian McDermott said to come here, he sold it to me and I'm grateful for the club to give me the opportunity to come and play for them. They're doing me a favour and I've to do them a favour by showing what I can do."

If a SL Club wants him mid season they'll have to fork out the right money 💰 At first he didn't know......after conversations he then knew, I'd imagine b4 he stepped on the plane. 🤷‍♂️

Unless he has an exit clause based on a SL or NRL offer. It's hard to tell.

Yeah but ppl making out like he's been tricked 🤣 his own agent or the  Featherstone Club didn't tell him anything and he didn't even google Featherstone Rovers before he got on a flight to the other side of the world with his family.

I would imagine he has decided he needs a change and wants to put himself in the shop window. If he secures a big deal in SL or the NRL then he has probably smashed it out of the park with Fev this season, so win win.

You'd have to ask him, but what would be the point when the club is nowhere near the cap?

Fev add ex-Melbourne half-back Ryley Jacks along with Adam Cuthbertson and Ben Mathiou to the squad.

My comment was in relation to Mr Vickers, not Featherstone

WE know DD but cambell won't let anything  effect his legacy at FEV in the past he ripped up a check and threw it in the face of a sponsor who had promised millions got security to escort him from the ground put him in a car and drove him to wakey station never to be seen again so I'm sure he wouldn't hesitate to do the same with vickers 🤣
