Thought Wakey were the better side in the first half, despite going in 10-6 down. Leeds were passive and probably underestimated Wakey having looked at the teamsheet. Wakey showed good intent and played some enterprising footy. Gaskell kicked Leeds to death in the first half and Leeming was guilty of running the ball down dead ends as he often does.

Leeds much improved in 2nd half and showed the superiority you’d expect from them. Newman was a class above, whilst Oledski and Tetevano ran hard and made good yards. Tindall also impressive when he came on. I hope he gets more opportunity this year cos I think he’s a more dangerous winger than Briscoe or Handley.

I was very disappointed with the reffing of the ruck. It was so slow, Smith hardly gave any 6 agains (1 all game to Wakey?) and Wakey certainly made the most of it by slowing it down in the 1st half. It was disappointing because it ruined the spectacle somewhat and prevented more enterprising footy (as the defences were allowed loads of time to get set again)

Good report Sir.

I am expecting big shakes from Leeds in 2022. It's an enviable well balanced squad. Whilst the game might not wish or need yet another Leeds GF win, but hey ho such is the World.

Do you have the first clue why some people use the term "Lids", historically with reference to Leeds United?

So, Rhinos were awesome or Wakey were rubbish?

I think even if Leeds had won by 100 the imbalance between the two squads would make either term inappropriate.  Leeds were just much more experienced. Was an enjoyable morning out. Thanks to the two clubs for seeing the event through.

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

We often moan on these fora - with some justification - about poor national newspaper coverage, so credit where it is due.  Today's edition of The Times has a decent sized piece and photo about the emergence of the next Sinfield generation, as seen in the Leeds -v- Wakey game.

Thought it was pretty even first half but has the gome opened up in second half, the difference on class out wide started to tell. Myler also linked well with new Leeds half.

From a wakey perspective Murphy, hall went well. Minns i would pass on and although trialist winger did ok , don't think we need him. Disappointed with Hood but Bowes had a great game I thought

I thought the full back did really well after the early fumble and young Poching offered decent distribution from dummy half.

If they’re not careful they’ll destroy the lad under the weight of expectation.

He came on for 10 minutes, passed a ball and kicked a couple of goals but other than that he wasn’t involved. Listening to the commentary you’d think we’d just seen the emergence of the new Jonathan Thurston.

His dad’s a Leeds legend and rightly so but that’s where Kevin Sinfield achievements end (on the field) so let’s not rewrite the limited levels of his career.

I think I've read somewhere that his name is Jack Sinfield but I await the Sky commentary team to give him his full name.

Erm, thanks for pointing that when i use the old laptop it converts Leeds to Lids.

No idea about the soccer link. Is it how it is pronounced? You tell me.

Agreed.

I am mortified to hear that and that the old decommissioned laptop from someone else now departed from a past work has that on it. I think I will reboot. delete, cleanse the machine asap.

I did not realize that. I haven't even heard the expression till you pointed it out. I am glad you did. It's removed.

Therefore can I express my apologies for my ignorance then. Its very much against my character and politics and as someone who has experienced discrimination it feels uneasy.

I thank you for educating me on this and I would wholeheartedly encourage others to actively do so when they hear, see or read any discriminatory language.

Let's move on.
