I don’t think im antisocial but i really hate Xmas parties whether family or works do’s, in fact i hate any party at any time of the year. I suppose that’s why people don’t bother asking me anymore, but they do like to tell me “it was a great party with a excellent choice of Oasis songs on the Karaoke”.

I tell them “it’s people like you Enya who enjoy singing F****** Oasis & robbie williams songs all night in a pub is the reason i don’t go anymore. Now f*** off back to the pub and you can sing some Wham, Band Aid tunes”.

Made the Roast Red pepper & tomato soup yesterday, just peeled spuds, snips & cleaned & trimmed sprouts, baked the bread to go with everything, flat smells lovely.

Stuffing balls to be cooked separately, in oven with pigs in blanket, spuds & snips, carrots 🥕 par boiled, then fried with cumin seeds, sprouts parboiled,  then finished, fried with pancetta.

Alcohol free Christmas 🎄

decided to quit drinking at the end of nov - done 25 days straight now- tonight with friends in the pub was a big test but 4 bottles of 0% lager and an early exit home all's ok- tomorrow with the family all day will be an even bigger test - cos of my lifestyle with gigs and a big circle of friends etc everything seems to revolve around alcohol week in week out  - pubs- clubs- parties - round each others houses-etc  so decided to jump straight in at the deep end and use xmas to do this

I once stopped drinking. Worst 8 hours of my life.

Made the paté and stuffing yesterday. Roasters par boiled early on to go in hot duck fat later.

Sausages made for my PIB. Bread rolls proven and about to go in t'oven.

D-day took less co-ordinating but as long as everyone stays well away from the kitchen it'll go like clockwork.  Last thing I need on Christmas day is "help" or advice. Just bug ger off and have another advocaat

I am on 60th day of no more than 3 drinks when I drink....and that's once or twice a week (Sat/Sun usually)....as a previous massive weekend only binge drinker this has been huge for me

Very proud of myself and look/feel better

The non alcohol beer is a God send for me

Stick at it Johnny!

Congratulations on the not drinking. But I never see the point in non alcoholic beer. I just don't drink or have tea or something.

No, I don't think you're antisocial either, JK, but I bet there are some antisocial types on here who think that you are...!

Happy Christmas everybody!

I’ve just never been a party person, but if my grandkids want too play Mousetrap, Uno or any board game i’ll play for hours with them. But going to work do’s with zany work mates who find the likes of Mrs Brown’s Boy’s funny just isn’t for me, id just end up committing mass murder.

It's a useful substitute for me......I still get the cold bottle, most of the taste and the pub/social experience ......I genuinely don't think I'd have done it without them

I've actually bought some 1% cider from Waitrose recently....even better really as you get a bit of 'body' in the taste and a very slight buzz after 3 quick ones......

I can understand that. But as it's practically the same price as regular beer, I'll just stick to soft drinks.

There is even 0.0% Guinness..... heresy.
