Tommygilf
Any talk on how this could affect Hull FC? By all accounts the Allams weren't well liked by FC (or anyone else in Hull for that matter).
Eddie
This might mean I stop wanting Hull City to lose every week, along with all the other football teams who I see as direct rivals to RL teams.

Wigan Athletic were in the PL , now in the third tier, have the Warriors attendances rocketed ? No. Huddersfield also were in PL, have the Giants attendances benefited from their demise, No! Have Leeds United being promoted to PL caused Leeds Rhinos a problem, no. Surely RL can attract fans without a sporting rival going down the Swanee. Also if parents take their kids to say Hull City, having a season ticket, and Hull do well, a great time had by all, then come summer time and the kids missing their Saturday afternoon fun, the parents might say, " well we can still do this in summer kids , there's another code of football we can watch" If though they had a bad time if Hull City got relegated they'll likely say, " never mind always next season," rather than, " stuff them let's watch Hull FC" Edited January 20 by HawkMan

One could argue that Wigan Athletic (a traditional non league club) even being in the league has led to people switching to football from RL. Also Huddersfield have had two seasons in the top flight in the last 50 odd years so not really relevant and Leeds Rhinos attendances have dropped off alarmingly since Leeds Utd have come out of the doldrums. Leicester had success in football, union and cricket simultaneously. Bradford Bulls and Bradford were another example. Oldham from the 80s. On the continent it's common for one club to have teams representing them in different sports, football, basketball etc.

There certainly was an element of the Rhinos growing at the time of LUFC's demise. This was of course stronger for fans of both/LUFC living in the City too as opposed to wider West Yorkshire. Certainly the Rhinos brand grew. It helped massively with having a hugely successful team which shouldn't be ignored when focusing on the impact of LUFC. That said, the reasons for the decline in Rhinos attendances are multifaceted - and may have been accelerated by LUFC being "good now", but were certainly not precipitated by that.
Johnoco
I don't have anything against football as such, I casually follow it occasionally and love stuff like the Euros or World Cup. But I always hope Wigan Athletic, Hull City and a few others do rubbish. This is because their fans have actively rubbished RL (in the case of Wigan, bitter and twisted) and whilst it might be childish, I have disliked them ever since. NB I know there are randomers who are fans of both.

I live in Bradford. But the number of Leeds United supporters I know is completely ridiculous. Absolutely loads just in my circle of friends, dozens - and they mostly slag #### out of Bradford City too! Most have supported them since the early 70's through thick and thin, so are pretty dedicated at least. I also know plenty of lads from Scarborough who support them too. There seems to be a big bunch of Leeds and Rangers fans in Scarborough oddly enough.
