Ryley Jacks signs for Rovers

Am sure there will be questions about how our other half backs fit in but you have to say it's another statement of intent from the club, this guy has 48 appearances and 11 tries in the NRL over the last five years and if the club thinks he's an upgrade on what we have then fair play.

There's clearly going to be someone disappointed but it's a long season and strengthening in any position is worthwhile if affordable.Β

It also makes me wonder if the club know more than we do about Chizzy's ban appeal.Β

Indeed, it's also a long season with Challenge Cup and 1895 Cup presenting the possibility of even more games.

I can't see Chizzy getting a reduction myself but I reckon it's probably just a case of a player becoming available who might improve us. I think you can argue that Holmes or Smith is a bit of a drop-off from Nu last year so can understand why we might wnat another half back signing despite already having several at that position.

I agree PH butΒ  my worry is they may see it as a frivolousΒ  appeal and actually up his ban

What proof did they have I'd like to know its one man's word against another as far as I can see, didn't take long to find him guilty but the appeal is ridiculous.

Took quite a long time in the first place didn't it? The alleged incident was away at Oldham in late August, and he wasn't banned until December.Β

It's always going to be difficult to deal with when it's one word against another. I seem to recall the same issues being highlighted when George Flanagan was banned for 10 games after being found guilty in our game against them in the cup in that it was his word against Jack Bussey's, as video evidence was inconclusive.Β
