A far cry from the 10k that Shropshire Bull and various others said they’d get in SL. Hopefully those that have gone aren’t put off by this sh1tshow too much though.

The capacity was limited to 8k,we don’t really know what effects the covid restrictions are having in France either.

@kiggysaid on the match thread that stadium bars/hospitality were closed because of Covid plus there was a cap on ticket sales. Maybe all the uncertainty meant it wasn't worth going mad and trying to promote the hell out of this game? Weren't France also playing in the 6N in the lead up to kick off.

Good points tbf. If that is the case maybe the crowd was quite good.

It was OK, but I really don't like the new look Headingley and it doesn't hold it well. The empty seats are very noticeable.

I wonder if Leeds fan’s enjoy the South Stand as much now as they did when it was just terracing.

8k at Wakefield and it will hit 60k - 10k average

Possible given it is the first game (although I don't know what the current capacity is at BV)

When did Wakey last get a crowd of 8k? Anyway if they do, it will be superb.

First games sometimes get a boost with a dose of optimism plus a big lead in. I'd imagine Hull will turn up in big numbers.

6.5-7k would be good but Sunday afternoon, only SL game, big following from the away club - there aren't really any excuses for Wakefield not to get a bumper first round crowd.

It looked a decent turnout.

yep,  plus according to Leeds the hospitality was sold out.... so for sure they will be more than happy at that revenue.

If only other clubs could do half the hospitality at the prices Leeds charge and the sport would be in a far stronger place.  We can only wish others had the same foresight at growing commercial/hospitality revenue as Leeds.

Not sure any other club is based in such a spot, Toulouse post covid?

maybe... but Leeds put huge effort and certainly have over a period lots of planning into making that a key aspect of their revenue.

Maybe other clubs do too but I've been fortunate in sampling many of the other SL hospitality/sponsorship and its poor fare in comparison with maybe the exception of Wigan and to a lesser extent Saints & Warrington. Although the pricing at Saints is about a third of Leeds top pricing - a big difference.   Good job their is a salary cap and not based on revenue.

Saints Wire have own purpose built stadiums.  Wigan looks good for big games , hoping that when restrictions go Toulouse can tap into an open summer market.

yep Toulouse would seem to have good potential.  Although they are as stymied as any club being promoted in the lack of time to prepare a  squad for SL.  So I would expect them to be relegated unless restructuring to 14 clubs happens the following season.

Scratch that, weather says it will #### it down at BV tomorrow. Maybe 6k brave souls.

Just posted on the match thread (Arrived back in Spain 10 mins ago) the covid restrictions killed off the entire event no VIP hospitality pre or after-match no food or drink in the stadium.

I feel really sorry for Toulouse the entire evening was flat as a pancake cold tired and starving we left early in the second half it was sadly a total non event.

Lucky for the Dragons that the restrictions are being lifted on Wednesday so looking forward to the match next weekend.

Goodnight

5248 isn't bad, given the apparent lack of much promotion of the game. Problem is they got thrashed by a team who most people expect to be in the bottom half of the table.  Hard to attract a new audience when you lose every week.

You could really see the quality of the new plastic seating, with it being 30% empty. At least the travelling wire fans managed to fill one end for you.

In fairness to SKS, that was still the highest R1 attendance. And the wire travelling support, whilst hardy, was only 3/4 at best of the Western Terrace

Some Wire fans probably took notice of the weather forecast & decided to give the primitive & artic conditions of the away end at Headingley a miss.
