Multi sport arenas are usually no sport arenas . This would be in effect a merger and because they are so far away its really just folding the club. Anyone serious about doing it ( RL in Greater London) would be looking for a non league club (so it can be 3g) where a ground can be developed jointly. Croydon off the top of my head with AFC Croydon Athletic). Then no London in the name, represent that borough (Croydon or Haringley) and you get a fresh start. Same with any venture. Do you own part own or have a long term lease where you keep the rev? No? Then dont bother. With prices in London we might have simply missed the boat. AFC Croydon is a toilet the best bet would have been Dulwich Hamlet. Paul

Paul Yes but the point was you´d do it up together. If the stadium was already in place there´s no way or reason you would get in. Secondly, Dulwich´s ground is owned by a property firm who are still looking to sell it so it would again be built on sand. And where do they get the money from to redevelop the ground, not to mention your saviour of the sport, the 3G pitch.

Agree it's boring now and I look at the model of French Club Rugby Union with the TOP 14 and the 16 team ProD2 and below that you have the sort of semi pro 48 team Federale 1 diverted into 4 pools of 12. I know we don't have enough teams for that model and the same as the close minded RFU but I often wonder Australia could have something similar.....sorry to go off topic a bit. Yep , never did take to our old ground at York with that running track , the open ends meant a freezing watch too in the winter/early spring months. Just not great with the running track though This is where I think the RFL should have long stepped up and in. It is in the games interest to promote London RL. It does that from a position of weakness. Thus you either rely wholly on local initiatives which is fine and apt, but in this case it also needs allround assistance. In my opinion, the RFL should have or should be securing a partnership with local councils and sports facilities from which the two London clubs can play from. And then invest in as the London centre of excellence. Plough Lane would be marvellous for the Branson era London, or if the Broncos returned to SL. But now?? That leaves say the New River as a more reasonable venue in which the RFL should be working with to make it at least a 5-8K stade. There is, for example, this cute League Two football ground near me that cost a mere £5m to build a 5100 capacity stadium. That would do. In the end it will pay for itself, no doubt. Anyway the Cornwall attendance should be interesting.

johnh1
Apparently Saints have the highest average home attendance so far this year. Can’t be right, surely. Sir Kev keeps telling us that Leeds have the best attendances every week.

With the GF Wigan game already sold out the average will be well over 14K after the Easter programme. Saints attendances so far are 13k, 10k, 16k, the 16k against Warrington is clearly skewing the data with only 3 home games so far. I’m sure Leeds will once again be the best supported club once all home games are played.

That'll be another outlier you will have to strip out. 1 I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.
