As someone who referees you will also know that he has to make a quick decision based upon what he sees, not by watching a video. I feel that referees need to err towards player protection at all times, preferably by outlawing all head contact. High tackles are outlawed.RU starts with all head contact as a red card and then you mitigate it down. Looks like RL not quite as harsh. Did Butterworth go to head tackle him? No, he was running straight at him so couldn't have high tackled him if player hadn't stepped him. So was Butterworth reckless? Yes. Did he hit him with any force? No Reckless with limited force = yellow The only thing I can think is that he hit him with a clenched fist. We will see what the Disciplinary Committee has to say. Initial impact was on the shoulder and slid up around the neck. Reckless or maybe ref saw it as careless? with force but no head contact, which got him a yellow. spanishknight Posted February 17, 2022 Share Posted February 17, 2022 On Thursday players are told what bans if any to expect, then the following Tuesday the disaplinery meeting is held and the players are banned, if a player wants to appeal he does so between the Thursday and Tuesday, like Pauli Pauli did. Most players below SL still have regular jobs outside of the game so need to organise time off if they wish to appeal. Naturally, this means that it costs Championship players money in lost wages to make an appeal, unlike SL players. This is one reason why SL players can get additional matches added to their bans for frivolous appeals. LeagueConvert Posted February 17, 2022 Share Posted February 17, 2022 In relation to each round of Championship, League 1, or Challenge Cup matches solely involving Championship or League 1 teams, or Academy matches, the Panel meet on the Thursday following the Round in question and consider any incidents that have been reported by Match Officials or otherwise brought to the attention of the Panel. There are only 2 side members in attendance for these Panel meetings. For the final week of the season and during the play-offs, all competitions are dealt with in accordance with the timetable usually in operation within Super League.
