IanMac Posted February 28, 2022 Share Posted February 28, 2022 Don’t think I’ve seen us get beat in the challenge cup at Barrow, a draw sometime in the 70’s, when, if my memory serves me correctly, Keith Davies who would be near the end of his career was public enemy no 1 with the Barrow fans for some reason I can’t remember. Yes on March 2nd 1963 Town won 16-7 at Craven Park in cup round one (the attendance was 10,000+)..Town's tries by Glastonbury 2, Roper and O'Neill plus two goals by Lowden. I remember catching a train from Bransty, along with several schoolmates to attend this match UTT. On February 9th 1975 Town drew 5-5 with Barrow at Craven Park...Town's points from 2 McCorquodale goals, and a drop goal by same player....on February 12th 1975 Town won the replay 14-3 at Derwent Park.....Town's tries by Wright 2, Corky, and McMillan...plus one goal by Corky. I must have took the afternoon off school for the replay!! Not sure which of those games it was, might even have been the Lancs cup in 79, but remember we had to get a police escort out of Barrow as the supporters coaches were getting bricks thrown at them, not a pleasant experience. Off subject a little bit but was it late 70’s when we drew with Cas twice in the cup and finished up playing them 3 times in a matter of day's?
