Not sure Saints would have gone with such a weakened team had they not beaten Wigan & Hudds over Easter. Barring a massive win for Wigan and a massive win for Cas, Saints will still be top of the league by the end of the weekend.

The players new this was happening before Easter. As in they were going all in for the Easter games and putting out a virtual reserve team against Cas. I’ll be interested to see how they go but probably not the best game for Sky to cover.

Is it too late for Sky to pack up and re-locate to Headingley for the relegation 4-pointer?

They'll still get more entertainment at Cas then showing a game between the 2 worst teams in the league 🤣

Perhaps, but the Headingley game has the pall of relegation to spur the players into action. That carries intrigue.

I understand why Sky went for the Cas game, but I'd guess that they would change games now if they could.

Intrigue maybe but still doesn't make it exciting to watch when you have the 2 worst attacking teams in the league playing each other.

If they were going to change games the Leeds V TO one would be the last to choose. Wire V Hudds would be the next logical choice, then probably HKR V Wakey before picking Leeds.

Are you serious ?

When everyone is fit the only ones of those Saints players guaranteed a place each week are Welsby, Lussick & LMS, everyone else are back-up players like Bell, Wingfield, Amor, Norman & Bennison and the rest are Academy players. There's likely to be 5 teenage debutants and another 3 who have a sum total of 5 games between them. Even the lads with decent 1st team experience are pretty young (Welsby -21, Simm -21, Wingfield -20).

Cas should absolutely be racking up a big score against such a young & inexperienced team

Having seen your confirmed line up you are probably right and cas should win easily.

They should show the big 4 pointer for relegation places.

Mondays game should have been huddersfield vs Saints.

They should wait to announce the games and pick the ones that will be closest.

At least its not the channel 4 game.

How long should they wait until they pick the game to televise?

I'll put my naive hat on now. Why have saints picked a side like that?

Third game in eight days and that's on the back of an away game in France the weekend before. So playing second, third and fourth placed teams in 10 days.

With injuries and suspension we've gone with full strength on Easter Monday and rest everyone today rather than resting half the team in each game. Being two points clear the priority is getting the squad as fit as possible for the cup semi.

The less said about the stupid scheduling which has led to this the better. But I'm excited to see these young lads get an opportunity regardless of the result. Hope they all enjoy the experience 🙂

This is not a good look for the game, and and  Saints have form for this. Losing twice to London twice 2 seasons ago with weakened teams and the scandal of their own players betting on a defeat against Bradford in a game before Wembley. Doesn’t help negogiating tv deals when this happens on the main match chosen for Sky.

If it bothered Sky they probably shouldn't have made Saints be the only team playing three games in eight days. Maybe we should do away with squads and coaches and let Sky pick the match day teams?

Yes, it’s a ridiculous look. Club coaches should make their feelings clear to their club chairmen at how stupid three games in less than a week are. It’s nothing to do with Sky.

Just had a look at the odds...

Cas 1/5

St Helens 39/5

The bookies would appear to be in with the full facts of team selection.
