4 - 34 to the Demons at full time. Some excellent work by the Cardiff women and a well deserved victory.

Cardiff looked a bit clunky in the semi against the Army. And they were narrowly beaten by London earlier in the year.

Far better today. Very good with the ball. Some great moments for any highlights packages the RFL collate this week.

Have a feeling the ref might be blowing his whistle when making 6-again calls.

He continued doing this in the second half - blew his whistle for a ruck infringement, then waved his arm for 6-again, then ordered a PTB. What the heck? I assume the officials were provided by the RFL. Coaches will no doubt "seek clarification".

The people at Wales RL always appear competent. Maybe they should take over the running of WSL South.

Full time in the Shield semi: Barrow 10 Featherstone 12.

Good tight game. Barrow can feel proud of their performance today and the season overall. Promising consolidation following last year`s promotion.

Assuming Warrington win the other game, Fev will start as clear underdogs in the final. Wire have been unstoppable all year in this division.

Commentary was a bit better on Our League today.

Just seen the highlights of the second Shield semi. Warrington 72 Bradford 0.

Healthy turnout at Victoria Park. Grandstand looked packed, plenty round the perimeter too.

Add a competitive Wire and a rebuilt Wigan and it all bodes well for next year`s WSL. We could soon have half a dozen roughly even squads in the top division with a good geographic spread.

The first try on Sunday featured an all-too-familiar scenario in the women`s game -

Warrington player held up in-goal, comes back to the 10m line for PTB, Bradford defence put no markers in and defend it like a tap penalty. With no marker defence pressure, dummy-half and first receiver have carte blanche, and routine backline training-drill move sends winger in at corner.

It`s such a dumb-ass way to defend that play. Either the players are ignorant of the rules, or the "coaching" they receive is of the "run hard, tackle hard, that`s all you need to know" variety.

It will be interesting to see assuming Warrington go up, if they can temp some local players such as Jodie Cunningham & Emily Rudge.

Regarding Wigan, I believe they will invest more into their Womens section which is great news, I saw their under 19’s play a couple of times and they have some outstanding players coming through.
