RL merch spotted in unexpected places

Recommended Posts

At school here in Ireland, a classmate was wearing a Leeds jersey. I immediately perked up and asked whether he supported them. He just said he liked the colours. This was in 2007 or 2008, back when the Rhinos were good.

What part of Ireland?

I once was quite shocked to see Rugby League World magazine in Easons (a cross between WHSmith and Waterstones if you need an English example) in Navan, County Meath.

I have been educated since on the presence of the Game there.

And yes Martyn I did buy it.

Mullingar.

I've never seen RLW on sale here though.

There’s a car that I see regularly in Worcester town centre that has a Wakefield Trinity car sticker.

Saw a London Broncos jersey in Brecon once upon a time too.

Jesus did you call an ambulance just as a precaution??

I'm a Fev fan, living in Calderdale. I once went for an evening run through the village whilst wearing a Fev shirt, and passed a confused looking bloke in a Cas shirt going the other way.

Sat in the Sulby Glenn pub tonight in the Isle of Man, I was on a table next to a bunch of blokes that were quoting the famous Mick Morgan "I can't speyk" commentary.

I wonder why the RFL don’t sell England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Rugby League car stickers. Perhaps RL would be see further away from heartland’s, Id even buy one and i haven’t got a car.

Well the RFL did go one up on this and plastered it all over the side of a few Eddie stobart trucks...

Once saw a Jonathan Thurston Cowboys jersey being worn in a shopping mall in the New Territories in Hong Kong, near the mainland border.  Worn by a local too I might add.

I think it was this one https://www.cowboys.com.au/news/2018/01/20/thurston-testimonial-jersey-revealed/

I once had a similar encounter walking down the canal in Leigh when I was wearing a Hibs shirt and a guy walked past wearing a Hearts top.

And then added the daftest ' strap line ' of " it's all about following your local team " to what was essentially a national campaign 🤔🙁
