While looking for details of an MCC cricket fixture in County Durham, I discovered Park View Academy of Sport, Chester-le-Street, has a rugby league team.

They have u-15s and u-16s girls teams too - been travelling down to places like Shaw Cross, Stanningley, Greetland and Hindley for fixtures plus taking part in (and winning) various 9s tournaments. Credit to those teams who've made the journey up to the north east for return fixtures.

I saw someone running down the road in Norfolk in a cronulla sharks vest this morning, not a common sight in these parts.

In fairness, running can't be easy in Norfolk with the webbed feet

Libby Morris, trying to mime "Floodlit Rugby League" on Give us a Clue. She gives it a mighty effort, but her team-mates are clearly not sports fans. :kolobok_biggrin:

There was an episode of the chase last week and there was a guy from London (born and bred) who was a St Helens fan and was going to use his winnings to go and see an NRL game.

The first ever game of rugby league to be held there is scheduled to take place in Iceland tomorrow afternoon.

The way it reads is a team assembled from members of a rugby union club in Kopavogur is going to play a visiting Norwegian development side.

Icelanders are made to play rugby league.

I think popularity with players would be easier with volunteers, but lets see how things work out for them.

Not strange, necessarily, but a surprise.

Just been doing a few Sunday morning cycling 'reps' up and down the repurposed railway line between York Hospital and New Earswick. Passed, a few times, a muscular bloke walking a couple of equally well-built dogs. Noticed he was wearing a Castleford Tigers T-shirt, so in the end I stopped for a chat.

After a conversational pre-amble, he said he wasn't anything to do with Cas. "Did you play - you've got the physique?" I asked. "A bit," he replied. "Who for?" "Oh, Hull Kingston Rovers, York and a few others."

Turned out he was former prop Rich Hayes, whom I used to watch play for York, in the 1990s, when I spent five years living and working on Teesside. York were the nearest professional team, so I used to go five or six times a season.

Nice bloke.

Over 30 years ago my mother invited me in to meet a centenarian who lived in the nursing home (in Australia) where she worked.

He was a very sprightly and chatty man who had a very old picture on the wall in his room of a rugby league team.

I asked him about the team and he said it is Wigan and that he used to play for them.

I totally forget his name but I thought it was nice that he was over 100 years old and wanted a photo of his team on his wall. He was so proud of Wigan and his time there.

Contestant on "The Chase" tonight from East Yorkshire. His hobbies were rugby league and something else.

"Hull KR " says Bradley Walsh,

"Leeds" answers the contestant,

Rhino's, says Walsh.

I was in shock because I've never known Walsh to have knowledge of any sport other than football.

Just because you think everyone hates you doesn't mean they don't.

Duolingo (French version) knows the difference between Rugby Union and Rugby League, I was having a chat with Lily about it while eating my lunch. Must say I was surprised.

Just strolled down the road to Sainsbury's in Hendon NW9 and the electronic billboard had a big picture of Sir Kevin Sinfield and his Running Home for Christmas MND challenge.
