66 - 22 loss and Haven lost at home to York  14 - 40 enough said. We are in one hell of a state and are getting lower and lower.

Result expected. Performance not. After the show we put on against barrow AND having a week off, shipping over 60 points is unacceptable.

Only minor positives I see are Glen Riley getting a try. And Clegg playing outside Curtis got a couple.

Let's hope the two loanees can make a difference

Glen Riley was our best player for me, maybe size was the way to go 🤔

Oh right David....lucky for Thunder then - for now.  Because these wealthy guys do eventually lose interest (pardon the pun) and walk away. Newcastle speedway has just gone bust this week, cancelling all fixtures with immediate effect, and not sure what crowd RU get- I bet it's not many....It's a very big place but soccer is the only sport they follow in huge numbers.

Fair play to your supporters who came over today and kept behind the your team.

I hope you stay up but it's looking tough would be great to see all three Cumbrian clubs stay in the Championship.

As for us, yes we're full time but we've had issues with players settling in the area or struggling to commute if they haven't moved up. The crowd wasn't great again today and yes Newcastle is a football city but i also think if a sporting team is doing well people will come. As for our ownership, the plan is to grow gradually and improve year on year with a focus on the academy and also to try and grow the community game is clubs and schools, the potential is here, hopefully it can be realised.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

He’s been there for a decade now & transformed the club especially the academy.

Last year the Falcons gates were generally 5-6000  with a highest gate of 8000 despite finishing second bottom,when they finished in the top half of the division a few years back they were regularly getting crowds up near the 10,000 mark.

Workington Town v Newcastle Thunder

Town, Thunder struck as Newcastle claim 1st ever double against the West Cumbrians 
Town had 1st use of the ball but knocked on and Thunder immediately capitalised through Issac Knoaks on 2 minutes Riley Dean converting for 6-0. 

On 6 minutes Town were awarded a penalty for a chicken leg tackle on Fitzsimmons and with it finished 2 meters away.  

Thunder were looking to work there way down the town line but for a forward pass to Umlya Hanley. A stoppage in play on 10 minutes was needed for Craig Mullen as he was injured attempting to collect Oscar Thomas’s kick. 

Newcastle were in again after 15 minutes through woeful defending as Umyla Hanley worked a 2 on 1 with Alex Foster to go 12-0 up. 

Town were quick to respond as old boys Forber and Brown rolled back the years to go through the Thunder defence like a knife through butter and on 20 minutes it was 12-6. 

On 22 minutes further Ill discipline from Workington saw Newcastle cross through Josh Eaves, Dean going 3/3 for 18-6. 

Thunder thought they were in again but the pass on the last nearly ended up closer to St James Park rather than Kingston Park. 

Town were unlucky not to get a knock on decision and then gave away a penalty through a steal.  Newcastle got away with a pass that looked marginally flat at best as they went through again for 24-6. Dean completing 4 kicks on 32 minutes and a fairly even contest within the 20 meter zones appeared to be getting away from Town again. 

A neat reverse kick from Josh Woods bounced awkwardly off Marcus O’Brien as Brad Day scored the 6th try of the afternoon and Thunders 5th. Dean went 5 from 5 to take the scores to 30-6. 

Town were awarded a penalty for offside then found O’Brien on the deck from a high shot. Town looked to be in for a 2nd on the hooter but for fantastic defence.  

The 2 half started well for town as Young got a nice offload away as Town completed in attack and defence. However that didn’t last long and the amateurish defence saw Riley Dean slice through half the Town team to score unopposed 2 meters away from the posts. 

Thunder went back to back as Thomas and Brown laid injures on the deck, (the game wasn’t stopped as it wasn’t head related) Brad day strolled through the gap left by the pair Dean slotted over for 42-6 on 48 minutes. 

Thunder knocked on from kick off to give Town much needed possession which forced a goal line drop out for Town.  The referee then awarded Town further possession as Ta’ai had hands in the ruck. Town were through as Glenn Riley battered his way over former Featherstone star Brad Day. Forber went 2 from 2 as on 53 minutes the deficit was 42-12. 

Workington seemed to be revitalised by this as Riley and Forber looked to go away again as Clegg went over on 55 minutes.  For 42-18. 

Town were awarded 6 again from the restart. Going 90 meters. Hanley and his evasion got Thunder a much needed penalty and a fresh set was them given. Town held out and went 50 meters before a 3 on 1 ball steal was surprisingly allowed to go unpunished as Hanley linked well with Clark to put an end to any Town comeback. 

Town did get the ball off a short kick off as Newcastle made a mess of it. Town then fell asleep on the last tackle as there was no hooker to play the ball. Thunder where then awarded a penalty for offside. 

Hanley scored Thunder’s 10th try as he got to his own kick ahead of Connor Davies. For the 2nd game in a row town had conceded 50 plus points. Dean kicking at 100%

Town were awarded a penalty on 69 minutes as Newcastle were offside from their own kick. A miss communication from Town saw thunder recover the ball 10 from their line. Thunder then registered their sixth, 6 again and 8th penalty for slowing down the play and being offside respectively. 

From the ill discipline Town were under the sticks again as Sam Hallsal scored 10 meters from touch. Dean went to a perfect 10 sending Newcastle to 60 on 73 minutes. 

Town once again caught the short kick off and played their best set of the game as Clegg scored in the corner to give Town fans a little to go home with. Forber kick landed just short as the scores went to 60-22 with 5 minutes remaining. 

Town were forced to drop out from kick off as a huge wind took the ball out of play. Brad Day was held up well from Town. 

Thunder finished the game with a hat trick for Wigan Loanee Halsall. Dean going 11 from 11. 
The full time score 66-22 and a first double for Thunder over Town.
