Build a Championship side around British players so when you get promoted to Super League you don't have to do a major rebuild, and then a better chance of staying up.

Tell me one team that hasn't got  NO British players in ?

What's that got to do with the debate.

I'm pointing out the obvious that it's best for a Championship sides to build it's squad around British players and then when you make it to Super League you have less of of rebuild to do.

I don't why you are concerned anyway because there is little chance of your club being promoted to Super League for next season unless there is a 14 team Super League brought in.

Leigh, on their best day, might get within 10 points of this 2nd string Hull KR side.

That KR guitar didnt have a neck to put strings on it was that bad, I realise it was decimated by injury btw, what that made TO God only knows

So glad I never took Hull KR -8 thought this would be too close to call. Infact bookies have all games kinda spot on this week. Hard to pick a team for the first time in ages. Anyway commiserations to Toulouse, don't want to see anyone going down too but if we win on Sunday I feel we are safe (fingers crossed) Up the Trin

No need to be so condescending

I know what you're saying and you're correct, but my point was there simply isn't enough British talent coming through. There isn't going to be with so many imports, I've watched RL and Fev for 51 years and i  know we aren't going up anytime soon. Leigh are far in front of anyone and most of them are non British.

Hence that's why i keep on about junior development. We need to augment out junior playing base

Definitely, i used to enjoy our A team as much as first team some weeks lol. Iam sure we tried A team again a few years back but didn't work out. Times have changed i  know but all these non British players haven't helped out game, we're no nearer Australia now then before SL started but we know that, been done to death.

We are working with Fev Lions again now and have  had players from there but not for a while now.

If i had my way i would reduce the overseas quota year on year and that would make some clubs take junior development more seriously than they do now.

I can remember when we had Rovers, Rovers A,Colt's, Travellers,Jubilee and Fev Miner's Welfare all in this town.

But that would mean leigh wouldn't get into super league every 2nd year as they wouldn't have their expensive aussie imports to rely on, don't be mean suggesting they grow their own!

Leigh without a doubt will replace Toulouse in Super League next season, but it's going to take another rebuild from them when most of the decent players will be signed up.

Already signed for next season, will have about 5 more to have the full squad done and dusted. Think we have announced Mulhern, Hughes and Davis from Wire to go with Charnley who came earlier than planned. Some big names in those we won’t announce until season end line up

1 ___________

2 /5 Charnley/McDonald

3/4 Ferguson/ Brand/ Chamberlain

6/7 Mellor/Reynolds/Lam

props Sidlow/Amone/Mulhern

Hookers. Ipape/__________
back row Hughes/Davis/ Asiata/Wardle

That leaves 1 non fed and 5 more current SL we have agreed not to disclose and 5/8 more to agree with to pad the squad

Be nice to see Chris Hill finish his career where it all started.

We will see how serious Dexy is about junior development when they are in Super League next season

If Leigh really do get promoted to a 12 team SL in place of Toulouse, then I think that they should also have protection from relegation for three seasons, to avoid yo-yo-ing  and to give them time to build a  team of players in for the long term,  not for those who have joined for pre-retirement pension pot top-up..

We will still have a pretty young squad - Davis and Mulhern are both under 25, Hughes 30/31 next year. The rumour is our last and marquee import will be rather special

I agree, all promoted clubs should get a 3 year protection (or maybe 2 years so the 3rd's at risk). RL's always innovated and this would be a good one.

Apparently this site says I "won the day" here on 23rd Jan, 19th Jan, 9th Jan also 13th December, whatever any of that means. Anyway, 4 times in a few weeks? The forum must be going to the dogs - you people need to seriously up your game. Where's Dutoni when you need him?

No championship team was expected to travel to France due to Covid.

When it was safe my club Batley did for the semi final.

Only professional teams were expected to travel. London refused and were penalised appropriately

I was listening to the Full Eighty Minutes podcast on Tuesday, ive not a clue what their names are on the show but one of them said “he has heard rumours that if TO XIII go down they will rejoin the French league”. I hope that isn’t the case.

Yes, unfortunately I've been hearing those rumours for a few months now.

It's a big ask to sink another million into the club on the off chance they can make it back into SL next season, and now knowing what you need to stay there, another shed load on top of that. It would be nice if the away side paid their way next season, that would help.
